“Hells. We need to fish that thing out before it eats any important parts of your brain.„
Overview edit
Background edit
Priestess Gut is one of the spiritual leaders of the cult. She is one of three leaders at the Shattered Sanctum, alongside Minthara and Dror Ragzlin.
Involvement edit
Act One edit
Gut can be found in the main hall of the Shattered Sanctum. She offers all party members the Brand of the Absolute, which can grant permanent bonuses.
The player character can follow her to the chapel and attack her or comply with her wishes. If complying, she gives them a potion to make them fall asleep, and they wake up imprisoned. If the player character drinks the potion as an elf, drow or half-elf, their Fey Ancestry prevents the potion's effects, which causes Gut to attack immediately. Additionally, a paladin's resolve enables a Constitution Ability check to resist the effects of the potion.
If the player character is imprisoned, they find themselves chained up in the prison inside the chapel. If the player character fails the checks or chooses to preserve their strength, they are rescued by a dwarven warlock named Korrilla at the service of Raphael, who kills Gut and Polma instantly.
Gut can be killed to complete the quest Defeat the Goblins. The quest can also be completed while ignoring her. To do so, Halsin must be first freed in the Worg Pens but left there. Then, after agreeing with Minthara to seize the grove, the party must talk to Halsin in the Worg Pens and immediately travel to the Emerald Grove. All this must be done without a long rest. At the Emerald Grove the party must side with the Tiefling defenders. If the goblin forces are defeated and Minthara is killed or knocked out, then Rescue the Druid Halsin, Save the First Druid and Defeat the Goblins are completed without killing Dror Ragzlin and Gut.

Combat edit
Attacks and abilities edit
Allies edit
(If fought in the main room)
(If Gut uses Call for Help in her chapel)
(If the fight gets too close to them)
Encounter details edit
Priestess Gut can be fought in one of two locations: in the main hall where the party first meets her or in her private chapel after the party has chosen certain dialogue options. In her chapel, Gut will be completely alone; however, if alive on her first turn in combat she uses Call for Help for backup from the other goblins.
Tactics edit
Gut can be defeated easily in several ways. If the party has high damage and initiative, they can kill Gut before she uses Call for Help. She may attempt to use Shield to survive, but the party can force her to use her reaction on an opportunity attack before they attack her themselves.
Alternatively, the party can cast Silence around Gut to prevent her from calling reinforcements. Although She may still flee from the spell's area, the party can group up around her, forcing multiple opportunity attacks if she attempts to leave.

Notes edit
- Priestess Gut uses a unique version of Shield of Faith that does not cost a Level 1 Spell Slot or require Concentration. This action can be utilised by the party by reanimating Gut's corpse with Sovereign Glut's Animating Spores action.
