Involvement[edit | edit source]

Act One[edit | edit source]

Dain is encountered alongside other members of the Flaming Fist attempting to put out the fires engulfing Waukeen's Rest on The Risen Road, following a raid by goblins.

If the party leave the area and return later, then the inn has burned down. Dain can be found wandering around, trying to make sense of the tracks in the dirt. The party can talk to her, and offer to try and track the footsteps:

  • [INVESTIGATION] I'll see if I can spot anything. (DC 10)
  • [RANGER] [INVESTIGATION] Tracking is what I do. Let me see if I can spot anything. (DC 10 Advantage Icon.png)

Successfully passing the check reveals the presence of a Drow, and the footsteps leading to the south. Otherwise, the party can ask if she has figured anything out and offer to help with one of the following options:

  • [DECEPTION] I'm a guard from a nearby village. I'm here to offer my assistance (DC 10)
  • [PERSUASION] Clearly you're in a rough spot. I can help. (DC 10)
  • [SELDARINE] [PERSUASION] My true kin have no care for surface raids. You can trust me. (DC 15)
  • [PERSUASION] If they allied with goblins, they were not Lolth's Chosen. Tell me more - now. (DC 15)
  • [GOOD PALADIN] [PERSUASION] By my oath, you have my help. But I must to know the truth to assist you. (DC 5)
  • [DETECT THOUGHTS] [INTELLIGENCE] Search her mind for information. (DC 15)
    • You're smart to keep quiet. Nobles attract the wrong sort of attention.

Passing any of these checks cause Dain to reveal that Ulder RavengardUlder Ravengard was kidnapped. If the party already knew that he was kidnapped, they may inform her, though nothing happens afterwards.

The party may also wipe away the tracks, causing Dain to be angry at the party.
