Oath of Devotion is one of the Subclasses of Paladin. These Paladins gain abilities that aid them in protecting the weak, dispelling falsehoods, and defeating fiends and undead.
Subclass features[edit | edit source]
This subclass obtains all the features from its base class, Paladin, in addition to its unique features outlined below.
Level 1

Courage. Stride dauntlessly into action.Compassion. Show clemency when prudent, and lend your arm to those in need.
Duty. Tend your responsibilities, obey just laws, and support those entrusted to your care.
Level 3

- Using an action, you can turn your weapon into a Sacred Weapon. Adds your Charisma modifier to Attack Rolls on your weapon and it also emits a bright light.

Oathbreaking actions[edit | edit source]
This section details actions which will cause the player to break the Oath of Devotion
Act 1[edit | edit source]
- Telling Zevlor that you will kill the goblin leaders after Kagha asked you to.
- You only break your oath if you select the dialogue options that imply you're doing it because Kagha asked you to.
- Telling Zevlor you will not help them in his cave
- Repeatedly stabbing Abdirak in Shattered Sanctum while he refuses to fight back.
- Torturing Liam in Shattered Sanctum.
- Revealing the location of the grove to Minthara, even if you plan on luring her there to defend the grove
- Attacking Damays and Nymessa.
- Killing Gandrel.
- Killing Anders without confirming first that he is hunting Karlach on the order of Zariel.
- Killing him after he admits to this does not break the oath.
- Killing the slaver Duergar in Grymforge, Ward Pistle and Ward Magmar, Brathwen and Viss.
- Killing Glut after agreeing to assist it in killing the Duegar.
- Killing any of the Zhentarim in the Zhentarim Basement.
- Killing any of the Mask servants when fighting Auntie Ethel.
Act 2[edit | edit source]
- In Punish the Wicked, after retrieving the ledger, choosing either punishment for Madeline. Telling her it's not her fault and forgiving her is the only option that will not break your oath.
- Killing the prisoners in the pods in the Mind Flayer Colony rather than releasing them.
- Telling Yurgir you will help free him from Raphael's deal, then that you will look around the Gauntlet of Shar to see if there is anything to free him.
- Passing the Illithid Wisdom check with Acolyte Marls. Can be prevented by passing the subsequent wisdom check.
- Killing The Warden. Can be prevented by not having the paladin character attack the warden during the fight.
- Lying to Arabella that you haven't found out what happened to her parents after having her wait at your camp.
- Killing any Githyanki in the Infirmary without being provoked
Act 3[edit | edit source]
- Intimidating Ben Golewits and his family into leaving Arfur Gregorio's mansion (regardless of roll result)
- Agree to take gold from Arfur Gregorio to 'forget' about rigged toys he donated for refugees
- Feeding a corpse in Feed the Mind Flayer.
- Killing the jailers in Wyrm's Rock Prison.
- Using certain persuasion options to get Wulbren to stand down instead of killing the Gondians, after you accept his bomb and use it to blow up the Steel Watch Foundry.
- Accepting the pact with Gortash.
- Allowing Astarion to complete the Rite of Profane Ascension.
- Killing the imprisoned vampire spawn in Cazador's Dungeon.
- Inviting Aradin to kidnap Aylin from your camp.
- Becoming an Unholy Assassin of Bhaal.
