Act One[edit | edit source]

Brathwen and Viss Viss can be encountered near the entrance of Grymforge, opposite to the berth at X: -608 Y: 404. They are disposing the corpses of enslaved deep gnomes who recently died from fallen debris.

Upon speaking to Brathwen, there is an option to ask whether the duergar are searching the bodies for any loot. Doing allows the party to notice a trinket on one of the bodies, and then either loot them, tell them to leave, or attack them:

  • [PERCEPTION] Inspect the corpses. (DC 10)
    • [SLEIGHT OF HAND] Reach for the trinket. (DC 20)
    • [DECEPTION] I'll finish up here. You're wanted with the others. (DC 10)
    • Attack.

A successful Sleight of Hand Sleight of Hand check provides the party member with the rare ring, Fetish of Callarduran Smoothhands.

Failing either check results in Brathwen noticing the party member's actions; he then takes the trinket himself. In further dialogue Brathwen proposes the character purchase the bauble from him, with possible options to trade, let him keep the ring or attack him.

If choosing to deceive deceive him and succeeding, the party must loot the dead gnomes one by one until the trinket is found. Another option to obtain the ring is to fight against Brathwen and Viss and loot it from Brathwen's body.

Otherwise, if not approaching them at once upon arriving at the Grymforge, the duergar proceed in kicking the corpses off the shore into the deep water and eventually leave only one of the bodies behind - the very same that has the ring on it.
