• Insight Proficiency: Gain Proficiency with Wisdom (Insight) Ability Checks.
• Persuasion Proficiency: Gain Proficiency with Charisma (Persuasion) Ability Checks.

Background goals

Performing certain actions that align with this background rewards Inspiration. These goals can be accomplished by any member of the active party, and Inspiration points are pooled, up to a maximum of 4. Completing an inspiration event also grants experience to characters with this background. While not necessarily all-inclusive, listed below are known events which grant inspiration points.

	50	Expert Opinion	Evaluate the ruins in Grymforge and share your findings with the duergar mason. This is granted if all three checks ( Investigation,  History and  Perception, all DC 10) on examining ruins are passed by a single character. Any other party member starts an independent dialogue and has to pass their own sequence of checks. The checks are not necessary passed in a single dialogue; a party member can try them separately until they use the dialogue option "I'm ready to report".

Riverside Teahouse	30	An Acquired Taste	Drink one of Ethel's unique potions. Heart of Stone or A Mother's Loathing are recommended, as the others have negative effects.
Underdark	30	Mind Over Mushrooms	Gather ingredients for Omeluum's potion.
	30	Regeneration	Restore power to the elevator in the Arcane Tower.
	30	The Finest Ingredients	Create a masterwork item from Sussur Tree Bark.

Waukeen's Rest	30	The Spider's Gift	Identify the drow armour near Waukeen's Rest. This requires the armour to be picked up with a Drow, Duergar, Deep Gnome, or any character with +5 to History or higher in the party.
Zhentarim Basement	30	An Artist in Need	Rescue Oskar the painter from the Zhentarim.
	30	In Working Order	Repair the elevator in the Zhentarim Hideout.
Act 2
Gauntlet of Shar	75	Dark Machinations	Fill all sockets with Sharran gems in the Gauntlet of Shar.
	75	Made of Shadows	Unlock and take the Spear of Rampant Night. The relevant weapon is actually called the Spear of Night.
	60	Mating Season	Discover the source of the displacer beast's infatuation. The party must investigate the spider carcass near Yurgir.
Last Light Inn	60	Hellish Armaments	Obtain a piece of infernal equipment from Dammon.
	50	In the Palm of My Hand	Acquire the Brilliant Retort from Barcus. This is the reward for completing the quest Rescue Wulbren.
Moonrise Towers	50	Blood, Sweat, and the Other Thing	Give your blood to Araj Oblodra.
Moonrise Towers Prison	50	Simple Tools, Great Works	Return Wulbren's tools to him. This doesn't need to be his hammer that was confiscated; any bludgeoning weapon, including the club that Wulbren can pick up on the docks, will award this Inspiration.
Reithwin Town	60	Confiscated Works	Acquire a magical item from the toll collector's confiscation chest.
	60	Inhumane Trials	Witness a horrid operation in the cursed house of healing.

• This source of inspiration was removed by Patch 1 when the quest Get Help from Healer Nettie was changed to use regular potion crafting to make an antidote rather than using the cauldron and Flora of the Dalelands to craft an Elixir of Silvanus.
