Involvement[edit section | visual editor]

When met Gyldro is busy forging weapons, and directs the party downstairs to ExxvikyapExxvikyap, if they wish to trade.

Gyldro Angleiron is one of the potential disguises of Orin the RedOrin the Red. If meeting Orin as Gyldro, she asks the party a number of questions about weapons and methods of killing they enjoy. Describing your perfect weapon grants the inspiration Dream BigDream Big to party members with the Guild ArtisanGuild Artisan background.

After she has left, the real Gyldro runs out of a nearby room and accuses the party of attacking him:

  • Gyldro Angleiron
You! Try attacking me when my back isn't turned, you bloody coward!
    • I didn't attack you - I've been out here the whole time.
    • You were attacked by a doppelganger. She was impersonating me.
    • What in the nine Hells are you talking about?
    • Go on. Say that again. Like you really, really mean it...

Gyldro complains the party is lying and the party can respond:

  • Gyldro Angleiron
I'm going to knock that smirk right off your face.
    • I'm telling you, it was a doppelganger! (If told he was attacked by a doppelganger) (begins combat)
    • [PERSUASION] I know it's hard to believe, but you really were attacked by a doppelganger. (DC 20) (If told he was attacked by a doppelganger)
    • Brave words for a man harbouring wanted terrorists in his cellar. (If party saw the Ironhand Gnomes in the cellar)
    • [DECEPTION] You must have been attacked by my twin. They're a real handful. (DC 20)
    • [INTIMIDATION] Try it, and you'll be smiling without teeth for the rest of your life. (DC 20)
    • [PERSUASION] You had a blow to the head. Are you sure you're remembering correctly? (DC 20)
    • [MEDICINE] Hallucinations. Irrational anger. These are symptoms of a serious head injury. (DC 20)

Failing to pass an ability check or otherwise explain that it was not the party turns him hostile.

On returning to him later, he is dead, with a letter from Orin saying how disappointed she is that the party did not kill the blacksmith. His corpse can be found in the Temple of Bhaal.

Although presenting as a gruff and melancholy blacksmith, the party can read the diary and notes in his home, across from his smithy, to learn he is an introspective soul, an aspiring artist and is aware something is amiss in the city. If spoken to after meeting with Wulbren BongleWulbren Bongle in Angleiron's Cellar, a conversation option presents to learn more about why he agreed to shelter Wulbren and the rest of the Ironhand Gnomes there.
