Located on the bank of the River Chionthar, the Ravaged Beach is dominated by the wreck of a Nautiloid. Corpses of fishermen and Intellect Devourers dot the area. There are several makeshift docks, but both them and the fishing boats that used them seem to have been destroyed. To the east sits a door to the Dank Crypt, while to the north is the Emerald Grove.

East beach[edit | edit source]

After the events of the Prologue, the player character will start Act One by exploring the beach. Shadowheart Shadowheart, a potential companion, can be found unconscious nearby.

A number of corpses here can be conversed with via the spell Speak with Dead Speak with Dead.

Near the Overgrown Ruins Waypoint Waypoint at X: 276  Y: 298, a locked door that can be unlocked with a DC 20 Sleight of Hand check leads to the Dank Crypt, a sublocation of the Overgrown Ruins. If the party fails to pick the lock, the Dank Crypt can still be accessed from the Chapel Entrance or from the Bedchamber.

West beach[edit | edit source]

The companion Astarion Astarion can be found close by the Nautiloid Wreck X: 170 Y: 288. After Astarion has been encountered for the first time, a Scared Boar can be found on the cliffs nearby.

West of the Nautiloid Wreck on the far side of the beach is a cache left by Harpers at X: 143 Y: 281. It can be found by dropping down ledges near the water, where a successful DC 10 Nature check will reveal deep grooves around a scuffed rock. If a character strong enough can move the rock, an Ornate Chest underneath will be revealed, containing a Harper's Map and Harper's Notebook, along with minor loot.

Nautiloid wreck[edit | edit source]

The Nautiloid Wreck from the Prologue divides the Ravaged Beach. The southern section of the wreck is guarded by a trio of Intellect Devourers at X: 230 Y: 271.

A dying Mind Flayer can be found in the northern section of the Nautiloid Wreck at X: 180 Y: 320. Killing it earns the Inspiration Icon.png Inspirational Event To Sleep, Perchance to Dream, Tentacled Dreams (Haunted One background).

Roadside Cliffs[edit | edit source]

The Roadside Cliffs sprawl north of the Nautiloid Wreck and south of the Emerald Grove, between the Forest in the west, and the Overgrown Ruins in the east. The Roadside Cliffs are littered with broken Goblin traps.

Waypoint Waypoint (Roadside Cliffs) can be found at X: 222 Y: 326. Interacting with this ancient stone sigil for the first time reveals a potential companion, Gale Gale, who needs a hand after his wizardry to escape the plummeting nautiloid went awry.

The Dark Urge has a unique and potentially bloody interaction with Gale's protruding hand. If you fantasize about hacking off the hand, you will actually do so, killing Gale and precluding his recruitment as a companion. Giving in or resisting the urge earns the Inspiration Icon.pngInspirational Events Indulge Thine Appetites or Subdue Thine Appetites, respectively (Haunted One background).

Another potential companion, Lae'zel Lae'zel, can be found trapped by tieflings.

A buried chest and a Shovel can be found at X: 202 Y: 386.
