Madeline Whitburn
Involvement[edit section | visual editor]
Before the ceremony she sits among other patriars on the pews in central nave of the Audience Hall.
After the ceremony ends, Lady Whitburn moves to the northern nave of the Audience Hall and stands near the second table with refreshments, accompanied by her maiden, Servant Naiske. She bosses Naiske around, constantly changing her mind about refreshments and meals she would like to taste. If spoken to, she says the city is as only strong as its walls are.
If the party confront Gortash, Lady Madeline can later be found along with all other invited guests and their retinue – slaughtered in the Audience hall.
According to the research of the Black Hand of Loyalty, Lady Madeline Whitburn is one of the nobles who may easily fall in line with the cult via bribery, blackmail, or direct threats.[2]
Idle banter[edit section | visual editor]
- Madeline Whitburn
- Naiske, bring me a plate of the cold-water pike.
- Naiske
- The cook has prepared no pike today, my lady.
- Madeline Whitburn
- A most grievous error. In that case, fetch me a bowl of sunfish-head stew.
- Naiske
- The kitchen is fresh out of sunfish, my lady.
- Madeline Whitburn
- Well, I never.
- Naiske
- If that is all, my lady -
- Madeline Whitburn
- Cheese. Something cut fresh from the wheel.
- Naiske
- I'll have to inquire with Cook Darlie about...
- Madeline Whitburn
- Ah, Naiske. Why must you make everything such a bother?
- Madeline Whitburn
- I so fancy a glass of Dragondew. Fetch me a bottle, and be quick about it.
- Naiske
- At once, my lady. Would you...
- Madeline Whitburn
- Ah, never you mind - a young Pink Clarry[3] would more suit the occasion. Bring it at once.
- Naiske
- Pink Clarry it is, my good lady.
- Madeline Whitburn
- Ah, but perhaps a mint wine. My palate needs cleansing. Though I've grown quite fond of Evermead...
