Lady Freida Oberon is a Lady of Baldur's Gate, present at the ceremony of Gortash'sGortash's ordaining as an Archduke of the city.

Involvement[edit section | visual editor]

Before the ceremony she sits among other patriars on the pews in central nave of the Audience Hall.

After the ceremony ends, Lady Freida moves to the northern nave of the Audience Hall and stands near the table with refreshments at its far end. She engages in a casual conversation with Lady Beatrice ProvossLady Beatrice Provoss, discussing Gortash'sGortash's low-born origins, information on the Cult of the Absolute available in patriars' libraries, and the need to call the City of CandlekeepCandlekeep for help. If spoken with, she toasts to Gortash and says that she sees the bright perspective of Baldur's Gate.

If confronting Gortash, the party can find Lady Oberon's corpse, unlike those of all others who attended the ceremony, at the rocky footing of the Wyrm's Rock, to the right of the drawbridge from Wyrm's Crossing.

Idle banter[edit section | visual editor]

  • Beatrice Provoss
After enduring Ravengard's slovenly manners for so long, I was rather hoping our next duke might be of high-born stock.
  • Freida Oberon
Gortash may be low-born, but if he is half the man Ravengard has proven to be, Baldur's Gate can count itself fortunate twice over.
  • Freida Oberon
Doesn't matter if a Duke comes from decadence or dirt, as long as they have the city's interests at heart.
  • Beatrice Provoss
We should request aid from Candlekeep while there's still time.
  • Freida Oberon
I hardly think Lord Gortash needs the assistance of ink-stained librarians. Everything is under control.
  • Beatrice Provoss
I hope these formalities don't last long.
  • Freida Oberon
    Aren't you enjoying the refreshments?
  • Beatrice Provoss
The refreshments are fine, but I won't feel safe until I'm back in the Upper City. Behind solid walls.
  • Beatrice Provoss
I've studied every book in my library and can find no mention of the Absolute anywhere.
  • Freida Oberon
Hardly surprising. Your library is almost entirely made up of tawdry chivalric romances.
  • Freida Oberon
Still, even among the educated this Absolute is quite the mystery.
