Lady Beatrice Provoss is a Lady of Baldur's Gate who is present for Gortash'sGortash's ordination as the Archduke of the city.

Involvement[edit section | visual editor]

Before the ceremony she sits among other patriars on the pews in central nave of the Audience Hall.

After the ceremony ends, Lady Provoss moves to the southern nave of the Audience Hall and stands at the table with refreshments near its far end. She is having casual conversation with Lady Freida OberonLady Freida Oberon about information on the Cult of the Absolute that might be found in various patriars' libraries. She is not willing to talk to the party, responding with dismissive humming only.

If the party confront Gortash, they can later find Lady Beatrice along with all other invited guests and their retinue – slaughtered in the Audience hall.

Idle banter[edit section | visual editor]

  • Beatrice Provoss
After enduring Ravengard's slovenly manners for so long, I was rather hoping our next duke might be of high-born stock.
  • Freida Oberon
Gortash may be low-born, but if he is half the man Ravengard has proven to be, Baldur's Gate can count itself fortunate twice over.
  • Freida Oberon
Doesn't matter if a Duke comes from decadence or dirt, as long as they have the city's interests at heart.
  • Beatrice Provoss
We should request aid from Candlekeep while there's still time.
  • Freida Oberon
I hardly think Lord Gortash needs the assistance of ink-stained librarians. Everything is under control.
  • Beatrice Provoss
I hope these formalities don't last long.
  • Freida Oberon
    Aren't you enjoying the refreshments?
  • Beatrice Provoss
The refreshments are fine, but I won't feel safe until I'm back in the Upper City. Behind solid walls.
  • Beatrice Provoss
I've studied every book in my library and can find no mention of the Absolute anywhere.
  • Freida Oberon
Hardly surprising. Your library is almost entirely made up of tawdry chivalric romances.
  • Freida Oberon
Still, even among the educated this Absolute is quite the mystery.
