Nymph's Grotto is a Location within Wyrm's Crossing in Act Three of Baldur's Gate 3. It is one of Sharess' Caress' private rooms, currently in use by Naoise Nallinto Naoise Nallinto.

Overview[edit | edit source]

This room is the first on the left when ascending to the Upper Floor. Its entrance is overgrown with foliage, and the interior is designed to resemble a forest thicket, in green and arboral hues, with abundant flora, hanging clay pots and a small pool with a nymph-faced bas-relief.

If the player character asks Amira Mamzell Amira about various services that her pleasure house provides, among others she mentiones "Naoise, our lovely nymph", who is currently catering to her favourite client. However, Naoise is not a nymph, but a wood elf.

Inside the parlour is Naoise Naoise and her client, Jara Fist Jara. When the party enter the room, a cutscene begins. Unbeknownst to most anyone around, Jara carries a tadpole, which connects with the player character's parasite. The Fist proclaims to know the player character, as the Absolute has already shown their face to her. The latter then triggers Jara's transformation transformation into a mind flayer, and a fight begins.[1]

Afterwards, a party member can speak to Naoise. If passing a passive DC 10 Insight check, she may give them a Superior Elixir of Arcane Cultivation, or propose experiencing "something more intoxicating than sex" with her.

Agreeing to the latter initiates another cutscene, where Naoise influences the player character's senses, making them feel great and glorious. The character, however, has a choice concerning the focus of this experience. There are the standard set of options, but some Origins and Companions (Astarion Astarion, the Dark Urge Dark Urge, Gale Gale, Karlach Karlach, Minsc Minsc, and Shadowheart Shadowheart) have their own additional, unique options. When Naoise finishes, the character receives the condition Rapture Rapture until the next Long Rest.[2]

Also, near the pool ledge the party can take a copy of an Archducal Coronation - Admission Pass, supposedly left by ill-fated Jara along with her armour and sword. On the shelf near the entrance lies Sharess' Caress Rooms Key, which opens not only the door to the balcony in the Nymph's Grotto, but also Elminster's Library and Underdark Pleasures parlours (the latter if it is not currently in use), but it does not open the balcony door of the Devil's Den.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  1. Naoise does not take part in the battle even as a neutral, and Jara as a mind flayer does not attack her. Also, though later Naoise speaks in reverence about the dead Jara's silvery blood, it is actually red, as usual - unlike most other fights with mind flayers.
  2. Within the cutscene, all party member are pictured from time to time with closed eyes, hanging on Naoise's every word. Nevertheless, the effect is gained only by the character who started the dialogue.
