Sorcerous Sundries is a Location within the Lower City in Act Three of Baldur's Gate 3. Located south-east of the Lower City Central Wall waypoint, it also has a vault containing powerful magical books and other items.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Sorcerous Sundries is a large building in the heart of the Lower City. It is the main magic shop of Baldur's Gate. The party can visit its ground and first floors, and also its elaborate vault. Instead of the typical guards that are found through the city, Sorcerous Sundries is guarded by Animated Armours.

Locations[edit | edit source]

Ground floor[edit | edit source]

After entering the shop, the party is in a large open area serving as main hall. In the center of the room either Lorroakan's ProjectionLorroakan's Projection, RolanRolan or Rolan's ProjectionRolan's Projection functions as host and shopkeeper.

Going clockwise from the entrance, the party can visit:

Tolna Tome-Monger[edit | edit source]

Inside Sorcerous Sundries Tolna Tome-MongerTolna Tome-Monger can be found at her shop at X: 8 Y: -92, where she sells scrolls and books. She can inform the party about the most rare ancient magical books owned by the Sorcerous Sundries including the The Annals of Karsus, a tome written by Karsus himself. However she refuses to sell or even show them, but tells the party that the books are stored in the Sorcerous Vault. If the interacting party member passes a persuasion check, she tells them the vault can be entered through her office.

First floor[edit | edit source]

The first floor

Two stairs on the ground level lead up to the same point on the first floor. Upon entering for the first time the party encounters Lorroakan's ProjectionLorroakan's Projection at X: 14 Y: -72. He informs them that "knowledge will determine your path forward." Four portals open, each accompanied by a plaque giving a different explanation of what the NightsongNightsong is, only one of which is correct. The pale blue portal on the Northeast side, with the plaque that reads "The Nightsong is an immortal being, the child of a deity" transports the party to Ramazith's Tower, home of Lorroakan, while the others downdown and eject from the building whomever attempts to enter.

Tolna's office[edit | edit source]

Tolna's office is located on the north-east side of the building. To enter the office the party must acquire her key or pick the lock. Reading the 'Clasped Book' in the bookcase behind the entrance opens a portal to the vault. Casting Greater InvisibilityGreater Invisibility or Fog CloudFog Cloud is helpful in sneaking into the office undetected, and the door can be shut behind the party to avoid the armour noticing anything is amiss.

Side bedroom[edit | edit source]

A bedroom is located on the south-eastern side of the building. To enter the party must pick the lock of the door. Little inside is of note, save a few books: The Path to Karsus, The Apprentice's Companion, Book the First and Wizards of Note: Lorroakan (Editor's Edition).

Sorcerous Vault[edit | edit source]

The vault can be accessed in two ways: either directly through the portal in Tolna's office, or by going through the correct portal towards Ramazith's Tower and, once inside, jumping down or using the magically floating furniture to get to the middle floor. Once down, interacting with the button labelled 'Vault' transports the party to a hidden room in the north end of the vault.

  • If Rolan is acting as a merchant when the party first enter Sorcerous Sundries, the uniquely named equipment items sold by him remain in his possession, even if Lorroakan's Projection takes over as a merchant after progressing Find the Nightsong, so it will not be possible to get them from Lorroakan's Projection. To get these items, they must be pickpocketed from Rolan or accessed via the Trade option available at the bottom left corner of the screen.
