Fytz, offering her goods

Overview[edit | edit source]

The armoury stands at X: -38 Y: -83 adjacent to the eastern side of the Lower City Central Wall. It contains a forge with a large bellows, makeshift training dummies, and two stalls with armour and weapons respectively.

There are two merchants working at the armoury: the weaponsmith Fytz the FirecrackerFytz the Firecracker and the armourer Gloomy FentonsonGloomy Fentonson.

Fytz carries the Blacksmith's Chest Key, which opens the locked, red-outlined heavy chest behind her. It contains two random uncommon +1 weapons. Gloomy Fentonson also has a key in his pockets, but this one does not open any chest in 'his' part of the store.[1] This chest contains six sets of armour with +2 enchamntment, two of each type (light, medium, and heavy armour), doubling those which are in Fentonson's stock. Both chests require DC 15 Sleight of Hand Check DC 15 Sleight of Hand Check to lockpick.

Both Fentonson's and Fytz's attitude towards the party may change depending on the outcome of the quest Stop the PressesStop the Presses.

Companion interactions[edit | edit source]

Trader in weapons Fytz the FirecrackerFytz the Firecracker is an old friend of Karlach'sKarlach's. If Karlach is in the party when they first approach the armoury, she recognizes Fytz and attracts the party's attention to them. If a dialogue is then initiated, Fytz fills Karlach in about what has happened after she was taken to Avernus, including the lies GortashGortash used to explain Karlach's disappearance.

The layout of the dialogue with Fytz changes, depending on several features of the particular playthrough:

  • The party's current progress with the quest Get Gortash's NetherstoneGet Gortash's Netherstone
  • Whether Karlach is a companion or is played as an origin. In the latter case, Karlach may as well pretend she does not know Fytz at all
  • If Karlach is a companion – whether the player character is currently her romantic partner

If Karlach recognizes Fytz, she offers a discount on her weapons anytime Karlach is in the active party. After initially speaking to Fytz, Karlach (as a companion) prompts a short dialogue about her plans for the future.

Encounters nearby[edit | edit source]

On a sandy patch across the armoury is the cat BarsikBarsik. If the party speak to him via Speak with AnimalsSpeak with Animals, he reveals himself to be a preacher of the goddess SharessSharess. If the party agree to hear out the tenets of his "religion", Barsik can be convinced to relieve Derryth Bonecloak'sDerryth Bonecloak's loneliness if her husband BaelenBaelen did not survive in the Underdark in Act One.

If convinced, Barsik runs away and can be later met in the Bonecloak's Apothecary.
