Act One[edit section | visual editor]
Ward Magmar is at X: -606 Y: 384, where he and Pistle guard the elevator leading to the Shadow-Cursed Lands. If the party move to access the elevator, Magmar asks whether they have a Moonlantern. This is the first mentioning of this as a means defence against the deadly effects within that cursed territory in the game. However, if the party insist on using the elevator without a lantern, Magmar is careless with his duties and allows the party passage.
Magmar and Pistle maltreat an enslaved deep gnome named Skickpit, demanding he repeatedly fetch more beer from the barrel at the foot of the stairs.
If the party free Skickpit, they must deal with Magmar and Pistle by attacking them or annoying them in dialogue. The other option is to tamper the beer in the barrel with poison or toxin. The party can try and speak to the gnome. It takes three or four lines and possibly passing a Persuasion Check to convince Skickpit that the party are really going to help. The party can also spike the beer straigtaway. Either way, after drinking a pitcher of poisoned beer each, both Magmar and Pistle fall dead.
After both Wards die, Skickpit speaks to the party and asks what he is supposed to do next. If they answer politely, he gifts the party a vial of Wyvern Toxin.
Magmar is a loyal member of the Clan Flameshade. Should the party conspire with Brithvar against Nere, Magmar joins them against the drow and duergar cult novices. However, he and Pistle are positioned too far from the possible location of the battle with Nere and his allies.

- If the party enter Grymforge for the first time through the elevator from the Shadow-Cursed Lands, Magmar still accosts the party about going up without protection as if they were first leaving Grymforge for that area, and still asks if they have a Moonlantern even if a party member is holding one in their hand.
