Animated Armour is a Construct and non-playable race in Baldur's Gate 3. They can be found in the Arcane Tower, Grymforge, and at Sorcerous Sundries. Animated Armour can be disabled by anti-magic effects.

Involvement[edit | edit source]

Animated armours can be encountered in all three acts of the game. In Act 1, four (or six, on Tactician difficulty and above) animated armours armed with crossbows can be encountered on the top floor of the Arcane Tower along with Bernard. Several more can be found defending Grymforge.

In Act 2, a unique animated armour, the Hollow Armour, is located in the pit of the House of Healing Morgue.

Finally, in Act 3, Sorcerous Sundries employs several animated armours as guards, some of whom will take part in the fight with Lorrokan.

Combat[edit | edit source]

Animated armours are equipped with basic weapons, usually a Greatsword or Heavy Crossbow.

Animated armours can be disabled by Sussur Antimagic Field Sussur Antimagic Field from Sussur Blooms. This works either when the Sussur Bloom is placed near them or held by a nearby character. The number of flowers in the Underdark is enough to disable all the animated armours in the Bernard encounter.

Due to their low Wisdom, animated armours are susceptible to spells or effects targeting a Wisdom saving throws, Command Command in particular. Note, however, that animated armours are simply immune to many mental effects like Frightened Frightened, Hold Person Hold Person, and Crown of Madness Crown of Madness so your choice of spells may be limited.

Their weight is pretty low at 40 kg / 80 lb. A character with a minimum of 15 strength can attempt to pick up and throw them with the Throw Throw action. In the Arcane Tower and Grymforge encounters, they can be thrown into the surrounding chasms to instantly destroy them.
