Salazon

Salazon is a human who guards a Zhentarim hideout in Act One.

Involvement

Act One

Salazon guards the entrance to the Zhentarim Basement at Waukeen's Rest. When the party first approach, Salazon readies an attack at them. If the party saved Rugan in the cave, they can recite the passphrase to obtain peaceful entry. Otherwise, the party must pass an initial DC 10 Dexterity check followed by one of the following checks:

• [NON-BERSERKER] [INTIMIDATION] Careful. You won't kill me, but you will make me mad. (DC 15)
• [NON-ROGUE] [NON-SORCERER] [PERSUASION] Just calm down - I'm not here to fight. (DC 15)
• [ROGUE] [PERSUASION] This is all pretty crude, as traps go - you'll probably kill us both. (DC 15 )
• [WIZARD] [PERSUASION] That spell, in close quarters? You're going to hurt yourself. (DC 15 )
• [SORCERER] [NON-DRACONIC] [NON-WILD MAGIC] [PERSUASION] I am magic. Cast that spell - you'll only hurt yourself. (DC 15 )
• [DRACONIC SORCERER] [PERSUASION] Fire is in my blood. Do it. Let's see who survives. (DC 15)
• [WILD MAGIC SORCERER] [PERSUASION] Every spell I cast could be my last. You think I fear death? (DC 15)
• [INTELLIGENCE] Read his mind.

Although aligned with the Zhentarim, Salazon does not become hostile if the party fight the members in the basement.
