Doppelgangers are a non-playable race and type of Monstrosity in Baldur's Gate 3. Doppelgangers can completely transform their appearance to mimic almost any Humanoid creature. They refer to themselves as Shallar.

About doppelgangers[edit | edit source]

Capable of morphing their physiology to impersonate other humanoids, doppelgangers have served as cunning spies, political envoys, and assassins.

Doppelgangers will disguise themselves as other humanoids, then try to Ambush Ambush enemies by reverting to their true form. Successfully ambushing an enemy allows them to use their multiattack.

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Prior to patch 5, Mindreader's disadvantage would appear as "Disadvantage Icon.png Disadvantage Difficulty: Tactician " when targeting a doppelganger with a ranged attack.
  • Doppelgangers can be spotted by Examining a creature, as their race and features will be shown in the inspector window.
