Eldritch Knight is one of the Subclasses of Fighter. These Fighters specialize in spellcasting, using their martial prowess and magic to attack enemies or support allies in combat. Eldritch Knights use Intelligence as their Spellcasting Ability, and learn spells from the Wizard Spell List, favouring the schools of Evocation and Abjuration.
Subclass Features
This subclass obtains all the features from its base class, Fighter, in addition to its unique features outlined below.
Level 3
- Ritually bind the weapon in your main hand. The weapon can't be knocked out of your hand, and it automatically returns to you when Thrown.
Level 1 Spell Slots Unlocked: 2 (You gain two Level 1 Spell Slots.)
Cantrips (Choose 2):
- Known Spells: Choose 2 Spells from the Eldritch Knight Spell List (schools of Abjuration or Evocation only). These spells are Always Prepared.
- New Level 1 Abjuration and Evocation spells available:
- Known Spells: Choose 1 Spell from the Wizard Spell List (any spell school). This spell is Always Prepared.
- New Level 1 spells available:
Level 4
Level 1 Spell Slots Unlocked: 3 (You gain an additional Level 1 Spell Slot.)- Known Spells: Choose 1 Spell from the Eldritch Knight Spell List. This spell is Always Prepared.
- (Optional) Replacement Spell: Choose 1 known Spell and replace it with another Spell from the full Wizard Spell List. The replacement spell must be Level 1.
Level 5
- (Optional) Replacement Spell: Choose 1 known Spell and replace it with another Spell from the full Wizard Spell List. The replacement spell must be Level 1.
Level 6
- (Optional) Replacement Spell: Choose 1 known Spell and replace it with another Spell from the full Wizard Spell List. The replacement spell must be Level 1.
Level 7
Level 1 Spell Slots Unlocked: 4 (You gain an additional Level 1 Spell Slot.)
Level 2 Spell Slots Unlocked: 2 (You gain two Level 2 Spell Slot.)
- You have honed your body and magic for war. After you cast a cantrip, you can make a weapon attack using a Bonus action.
- Known Spells: Choose 2 Spells from the Eldritch Knight Spell List. These spells are Always Prepared.
- New Level 2 Abjuration and Evocation spells available:
- (Optional) Replacement Spell: Choose 1 known Spell and replace it with another Spell from the full Wizard Spell List. The replacement spell must be Level 1.[1]
Level 8
- Known Spells: Choose 1 Spell from the Wizard Spell List (any spell school). This spell is Always Prepared.
- New Level 2 spells available:

Level 9

Level 10
- When you hit a creature with a weapon attack, it has
Disadvantage on its next Saving Throw against a spell you cast before the end of your next turn.

Level 11
- Known Spells: Choose 1 Spell from the Eldritch Knight Spell List. This spell is Always Prepared.

Level 12

*One spell learned at this level can be from the entire Wizard Spell List, the chosen spell must still be of a level for which the Eldritch Knight has spell slots for. (This is in contrast to the normal Eldritch Knight Spell List, which only contains the Abjuration and Evocation spells of the Wizard Spell List)
Eldritch Knight Spell List
Eldritch Knight's Spell List is the same as the Wizard's, but with only non-cantrip spells from the schools of Abjuration or Evocation plus every wizard cantrip. However, Eldritch Knights may learn a spell from the entire wizard spell list at levels 3 and 8. The Replacement Spell Feature also allows an Eldritch Knight to swap any known spell with any spell from the full wizard spell list, once per level starting at class level 4.
