Umi is a Tiefling NPC in Baldur's Gate 3. One of the children of the Tiefling Refugees being trained to fight in The Hollow of the Emerald Grove.

Act One

Umi can first be encountered in the training area of The Hollow inside the Emerald Grove, being trained by Asharak together with Gan and Ide. He is the most scared of the group and does not seem to be enjoying his training. He can either be encouraged or discouraged by what the Player Character says to him and the rest of the children when prompted by Asharak. If the Grove is successfully defended from the goblins, he will tell the player that he left his training sword in the cave.

Act Two

If Umi survives Act One, he can be found dealing with Rolan alongside Ide at Last Light Inn's bar, where it will be revealed that Rolan saved him and the other children. If Resolve the Abduction is completed with Isobel staying at Last Light, Mol will nonetheless be kidnapped by a Winged Horror and the tiefling children will start arguing about what to do. Umi will be reluctant to go after her, stating that they don't know how to reach Moonrise.

Act Three

If Umi survives the previous acts, he can be found with Ide at the Requisitioned Barn in Rivington. His attitude will have changed dramatically, as he complains about being made to clean pots when he wants to be killing cultists. Ide will express concern over his behaviour if approached.
