Involvement[edit | edit source]

Act One[edit | edit source]

Barth is one of the adventurers who is ambushed by Goblins at the beginning of Act One outside of the Emerald Grove and is forced to fight his way inside the grove with the help of the player.

Stolen locket[edit | edit source]

Main article: Return the Locket

If he survives the battle and remains in the Grove, Meli Meli will steal his Brass Locket, causing Barth to confront him and kicking off the quest Return the Locket

The party can side with Meli or Barth, and through a variety of Persuasion or Intimidation checks can force either side to give the locket back. Alternatively, the party can opt to do nothing, which will lead to an altercation where Barth slaps Meli, who will then call for Ikaron Ikaron.

If Ikaron joins, he questions why Barth is threatening a child. The party can either allow Meli to keep the locket or force Meli to return it.

If allowing Meli to take the locket, it can be recovered from the Tiefling Hideout and returned to Barth. If passing an Ability Check, Barth explains the locket's origin and importance. After hearing his story, the party can request the locket back from Barth. If pressed for the locket, Barth and his crew attack the party.

Leaving the Grove[edit | edit source]

If Aradin's adventuring group left the Grove, they are ambushed by Goblins on the way to the Blighted Village. Barth and Aradin are the only survivors. They leave after speaking with the party, and Barth is never to be seen again.
