Gnolls are non-playable humanoid creatures in Baldur's Gate 3. They closely resemble hyenas and are consumed with a primal bloodlust and hunger. Often gnolls worship the demon lord Yeenoghu.

About gnolls

Gnolls are a race of carnivorous humanoids, tall and lean with a craving for the hunt. They have a strong affinity for family and blood ties, though this comradery is not always extended to separate packs. Gnolls also have a fondness for hyenas, seeing them as brethren and keeping them as pets or hunting companions. Gnolls can be born from bloated hyenas that are fat off the spoils of a massacre.

Flinds

Flinds are a stronger and more vicious cousin to the gnoll who have become part fiend. They are often found commanding war bands of gnolls, or otherwise as solitary hunters. A gnoll who vanquishes a flind is said to transform into a flind themselves; however, Baldur's Gate 3 has no such mechanic.

Notes

  • Prior to Patch 6, Gnolls were categorized as Monstrosities rather than Humanoids. This change makes Baldur's Gate III more similar to 5th Edition D&D (which also categorizes Gnolls as humanoids).
