His Majesty, when prompted into a conversation

Involvement

His Majesty can be found on the first floor of the Last Light Inn. He is a rather stand-offish, hissing immediately approached and more throughout any interactions with him. Ranger class characters will immediately recognize him as acting territorial. A player character without Speak with Animals Speak with Animals active may try to call the cat to them with a DC 14 Animal Handling check and, at their own peril, attempt to pet him.

If Speak with Animals Speak with Animals is active, a player character can express that their intentions are pure and they only wish to admire him, after which he will allow the party stay and chat a little longer.

When asked if he has heard anything interesting, His Majesty will relay his conclusion that Isobel Thorm Isobel is a liar because she promised him milk but he has yet to receive any. The player can corroborate this story by finding a milk bowl in Isobel's room. However, stealing it and presenting it to His Majesty will not lead to him drinking it or improve your favour with him.

Appearance Changes

His Majesty was hairless when he was first implemented in Early Access and through launch. However, Larian gave him the fur of a long-haired cat in Patch #3 on September 22, 2023 with the following patch note:

Updated the visuals of His Majesty, who previously looked like Steelclaw. His Majesty's appearance now befits his name and nature.

This resulted in a massive outcry from players who felt the Sphynx cat breed perfectly fit the character of His Majesty.

Larian restored his appearance soon after in Hotfix #8 on October 3, 2023, deciding to change Steelclaw's appearance instead of His Majesty's:

Shaved His Majesty, who is once again a Sphynx. Steelclaw's eye colour has been adjusted so they are no longer identical twins.
