Involvement[edit | edit source]

Act Two[edit | edit source]

After travelling to the Shadow-Cursed Lands, the party can meet Kar'niss Kar'niss, who traverses the Shadow Curse Shadow Curse with the assistance of a Moonlantern. If Kar'niss is defeated, the party can collect and investigate the Moonlantern.

Inspecting the Moonlantern Inspecting the Moonlantern reveals the presence of Dolly and grants the inspiration Trust and a Little Pixie Dust Trust and a Little Pixie Dust inspiration to party members with the Guild Artisan Guild Artisan background. Dolly pleas with the inspecting party member to free her, and they can either release her gently, release her by smashing the lantern, torture her, or ignore her.

Releasing her by either means destroys the lantern, however Dolly rewards the party with the Filigreed Feywild Bell. This bell grants the entire party the condition Pixie Blessing Pixie Blessing, which gives full immunity from the Shadow Curse without the need to use a Moonlantern. Releasing her by smashing the lantern causes her to curse the interacting party member with A Clown in Town A Clown in Town, which gives them a clown facepaint.

Refusing to release Dolly from the lantern results in her dropping the rhyming speech affectation and instead viciously cursing the party out. While the lantern is equipped from then on, she occasionally pipes up with further insults and demands to be released.

If The Dark Urge is chosen as Origin, then the Urge wants to kill the pixie by crushing it between their fingers. Doing this yields no benefits, other than the inspiration Fly-Swatter Fly-Swatter, forcing the party to find another Moonlantern if they want to traverse the stronger areas of the Shadow Curse.

If Kar'niss survives his journey to Moonrise Towers with the Moonlantern, Dolly dies and cannot be freed from it.

Act Three[edit | edit source]

If freeing her during Act Two, then Jelliwig Jelliwig, the "Printing Press" of the quest Stop the Presses Stop the Presses recognises the party and allows them to change the printing to something more favourable.

Dolly Dolly Dolly can still be spoken to at any time by using the Filigreed Feywild Bell during Acts Two and Three.

Pranks[edit | edit source]

If being rude to Dolly, she has some fun at the party's expense and applies one turn of polymorphed.

  • I'm afraid I don't know the magic words. Mind sharing them?
  • We're living in a magical theatre show puppeteered by a madman.

If smashing the moonlantern that she is trapped in, she curses the party:

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • If the Moonlantern is not automatically inspected after picking it up, equipping it allows the party member to use the action Inspect Moonlantern Inspect Moonlantern to talk to Dolly. If the action is not in the quick action bar, it can be found in the Spellbook menu under "Common".
  • Dolly's Pixie Blessing disappears if the party leave an Act (for example if they travel back to the Wilderness (Act One) from the Shadow-Cursed Lands (Act Two)). Because of this, if the blessing is applied during Act Three, there is no way to remove it, because the party cannot leave Act Three.[Needs Verification]
  • Dolly is one of the few characters who are able to break the "fourth wall" and acknowledge that she is part of a video game. When using the Filigreed Feywild Bell, the talking party member has the option to tell her that the "magic words" are "We're living in a magical theatre show puppeteered by a madman". Dolly replies that they are not supposed to know that, and polymorphs them into a pig for two turns as punishment.
