Harper Yonas is a Harper ranger in the Shadow-Cursed Lands during Act Two.

Involvement

Act Two

Yonas can be encountered near the entrance to the Shadow-Cursed Lands from the Grymforge lift as part of a Harper expedition led by  Lassandra which consists of himself,  Karrow, and  Meygan. After being ordered to move in, Yonas is struck down and snatched into the darkness by a Shadow, where he calls for help. He is quickly killed by the Shadow Curse and wanders back into line of sight as a  Shadow-Cursed Undead. The blighted Harper sides with the shadows against the party.

Once Yonas and the shadows are dispatched, Lassandra speaks with the party and marks a safe location on their map, known as Last Light Inn.

Last Light Inn

Upon arrival at Last Light Inn, Karrow and Meygan can be found mourning Yonas on a rocky ledge south of the docks. Meygan kneels in front of a shrine, grieving Yonas, while Karrow observes her from a few paces behind. Speaking with Meygan reveals she had developed feelings for Yonas and had wanted to be with him before his untimely demise. It is unclear if Yonas knew this, but the party can tell her that Yonas probably felt the same way. If speaking with Karrow, he remarks that Yonas was "green" and inexperienced.

The party can offer Yonas'  Harper Blade to Meygan, who provides Gold in return for this memento.

Deal regular damage and possibly inflict  Gaping Wounds which cause extra damage on attacks.

Undead and Constructs can't receive Gaping Wounds.

Notes

• Yonas, Meygan, Lassandra, and Karrow, are the only level 5 Harpers in Act Two. All other Harpers in Last Light Inn are level 6, except for  Jaheira, who is level 8.
• As of Patch 6 and after, despite having Extra Attack, Yonas is not able to attack twice during his turns.
• As of Patch 6 and after, there is an exploit which allows the party to save him. It involves the use of  Polymorph on Yonas during the encounter, which removes the  Shadow-Cursed Undead condition from him. After that, Toggle Non-Lethal Attacks must be used to hit the polymorphed Yonas, which may cause him to revert back to his human form and free him from the curse. There is also a chance that he dies instead from the hit. If successful, Yonas can be found at the entrance of Last Light Inn. However, as he is supposed to die, he cannot be interacted with, and has no additional scripts or dialogue.^[verify]
