Countermeasures are hostile Aberration creatures in Baldur's Gate 3 that may appear during the fight Atop the Netherbrain depending upon the party's choices during the Confront the Elder Brain quest.
About
Four Countermeasures are created by the Netherbrain if the party chose to give the Netherstones to The Emperor and let him consume Orpheus. They are designed to both mimic and counter the specific classes of the characters within the party. They only appear during the final battle Atop the Netherbrain.
Tactics
Countermeasures are generally effective against the classes that they are mimicking. For example, the Spellplague has the Magic Resistance passive, Resistance to fire, cold, and lightning damage, and can cast Counterspell, making it more difficult for Wizards to deal with. Consider fighting different countermeasures with members of your party who aren't countered by them.
Countermeasure class variants
- Barbarian: Rage Queller
- Bard: The Snapping of Strings
- Druid: Unnatural Blot
- Cleric: Blasphemous Acolyte
- Fighter: Breaker of War
- Monk: Way of the Profane Ki
- Paladin: Oathless Wretch
- Ranger: The Darkening Hunt
- Rogue: Assassin's Folly
- Sorcerer: Metamage Persecutor
- Warlock: Pactsplitter
- Wizard: Spellplague
Notes
- If a character is multi-classed then the type of countermeasure is randomly selected from among its classes.
- Countermeasures have 4 character models, each of which is always used during the final battle.
