Deception is a Charisma Skill.
The higher your Charisma Score, the more likely you will succeed on Deception Checks.
Proficiency
Characters who are proficient in Deception can add their Proficiency Bonus when making 
Ability checks.
The following backgrounds grant proficiency in Deception:
The following classes can choose to select Deception as a proficient skill at Level 1:
Warlocks who choose the 
Eldritch Invocation gain proficiency in Deception and Persuasion.
