Persuasion is a Charisma Skill used almost exclusively for dialogue Ability Checks.
Persuasion also affects the prices offered by Traders alongside their Attitude value towards the hero talking to them.
Proficiency
Characters who are proficient in Persuasion can add their Proficiency Bonus when making 
Ability checks.

The following classes can choose to select Persuasion as a proficient skill at Level 1:
Warlocks who choose the 
Eldritch Invocation gain proficiency in Persuasion and Deception.
