Resources are expendable units in Baldur's Gate 3 that determine what a creature is able to do at any given time, as well as how long they must wait before they are able to do it again.

Depleted resources must recharge in order for them to he used again. Resource always recharge on taking a long rest, but some recharge on taking a short rest, or at the beginning of the creature's turn.

All creatures have access to a set of resources that are used exclusively in turn-based mode. These recharge at the beginning of each turn.

Many features come with their own resources, which generally only recharge on taking. rest.

Common resources

Common resources are resources available to all creatures.

Action
Recharge: Turn
The primary resource used for actions. Default is 1.
Bonus action
Recharge: Turn
Secondary resource used for some actions. Default is 1.
Reaction
Recharge: Turn
Used for reacting to other actions. Default is 1.
Movement
Recharge: Turn
A creature uses movement to move on a 1:1 ratio. Normal is 9 m / 30 ft.

Spell slots

Spell slots are a resource used by casters to cast spells:

Recharge: Long rest
Used by classes with the Spellcasting feature to cast spells.
