Involvement[edit | edit source]

Act One[edit | edit source]

If speaking with Varsh Ko'kuu, the interacting party member can pass a passive DC 10 Insight check to deduce that Ko'kuu has been waiting a long time for the last egg in the hatchery to hatch. If the party member passes the Insight check, they can attempt a DC 10 Persuasion check to ask Ko'kuu why he really cares about this egg. If the party member failed the passive Insight roll, they can still ask Ko'kuu why he cares about one egg via a DC 14 Persuasion check.

On success, Ko'kuu reveals that he himself created the hatchery, despite being the last in his clutch to hatch. He believes there could be greatness in the unhatched egg. However, he grows weary and impatient because Therezzyn Kith'rak Therezzyn might inspect the hatchery soon and command him to destroy the egg. Upon learning this, the interacting party member can attempt to convince Ko'kuu to relent the last egg. Passing one of the following options results in Ko'kuu providing the egg:

  • [PERSUASION] Why risk its life at all? Give it to me - I'll take care of it. (DC 18)
  • [DECEPTION] You're out of time and clearly stalling - that's why Kith'rak Therezzyn sent me to bring it to her. Hand it over. (DC 10)
  • [INTIMIDATION] You're wasting time. Give it to me now or I'll tell her you're the weakling. (DC 18)

If the interacting party member convinces Ko'kuu to relent the egg, he grants them Varsh Ko'kuu's Boots, which prevents the wearer from taking damage in the hatchery pool.

Companion approval[edit | edit source]

After convincing Ko'kuu to relent the egg via a DC 18 Persuasion check, he asks what the party will do with the egg. The following responses result in companion approval:

  • I'll raise it as if it were my own flesh and blood.
  • I'll find another crèche. One that's more forgiving.
  • [GITHYANKI] I'll see that it becomes the greatest ghaik-slayer you've ever seen.

  • I'll make the best omelette you've ever tasted.
  • Depends, how much do you think these things sell for?
