The campsite during Act Two

Camp Events/Act Two are scripted events that can occur at the Campsite during Act Two. Below is a list of camp events and their requirements.

Dream Guardian shows vulnerability

Type: General  (Dream GuardianDream Guardian)

Requirements:

  • Going to Moonrise Tower.

Result:

  • The Dream Guardian appears to the player character once again in a dream, wearing their camp clothing (a Mellow Fruit-dyed Elegant Robe) rather than their usual armour. The Dream Guardian shares that being in such close proximity to the Absolute is taking a toll on them, and the player character is given a number of different responses for how to react to this.


Ogres demand payment

Requirements:

Result:

  • The Ogres appear in camp, if the player character never called them and never paid their debt.


Astarion inspects his scars

Result:

  • Astarion ponders about the scars on his back. The player character can roll an Investigation check to see if they can find out more. If successful, Astarion realizes the scars are written in Infernal, pointing him to look for Raphael. If the player did not learn of his scars, this event plays automatically after the party leaves the Shadow-Cursed Lands.

  • Astarion has a dream where he remembers Cazador carving runes on his back. With an DC 14 Intelligence Check DC 14 Intelligence Check he can understand their infernal.

  • As she is finally able to touch other people, Karlach wants to celebrate by finally having an intimate night with her beloved. She will ask if she can come over during the night. When she does the players character can choose to have sex with her.


Karlach blames Gortash for her engine

  • When meeting Karlach back at camp, she questions the players character if everything she has been going through is due to GortashGortash. She will remark her engine is getting hotter and it will explode if they do not find a way to fix it.


Shadowheart is not affected by the Shadow Curse

  • Shadowheart will speak up at camp noticing she is not affected by the Shadow Curse. She thinks SharShar is protecting her and that she must be blessed.

  • MizoraMizora appears to Wyll one night and demands he rescue Zariel's asset in Moonrise Towers. This event is automatically triggered upon approaching the entrance of Moonrise Towers.


Wyll's courtship dance

Type: Romance  (WyllWyll)

Requirements:

Result:

  • During a long rest, the player character can observe Wyll practicing a dance. Wyll takes notice of them and then asks for a dance. Wyll dances first before giving the player character the floor. The player character dances according to some skill checks. Independent of succeeding, Wyll is amused and invites them for a more "intimate" dance. Wyll and the player character dance romantically until their faces are close. The player character then can lean for a kiss, or let Wyll kiss them.
  • Asking Wyll to spend the night or kissing him for the second time results in him telling the player character of his desire for a romantic, fairy tale relationship, and he wishes to take it slowly. After this scene, Wyll and the player character are partnered.


Ordered to kill Isobel

  • Sceleritas FelSceleritas Fel appears before the Dark Urge and orders them to kill Isobel. If they do, they receive another reward.

Result:

  • Sceleritas FelSceleritas Fel appears before the Dark Urge and grants them the power to become the Slayer. This event is also played automatically after the party leave the Shadow-Cursed Lands.


Perils of resisting Bhaal

Result:

  • Sceleritas FelSceleritas Fel explains to the player character that their insatiable Urge to kill is now being directed toward the person they care for most: their romantic interest or, if they have none, the companion with the highest approval rating. If the player character has multiple active romances, the companion with the higher approval is chosen. Minthara, Halsin, and Jaheira are always excluded as potential targets. Gale is also excluded until Elminster stabilises his orb.
  • After Sceleritas leaves, the player character can try to resist the Urge (DC 14 Wisdom Saving ThrowDC 14 Wisdom Saving Throw) and wake the companion, or go to sleep, thereby surrendering to the Urge and killing them.
  • If the Dark Urge successfully wakes their companion, they can warn them before succumbing to possession by the Urge. Their companion restrains them and tries to calm them down. Afterwards, the Dark Urge can explain to their companion about their urges.
  • If they do not warn their companion, the Dark Urge kills them. The player character then must make a DC 25 Deception Check DC 25 Deception Check to convince their companions it was an accident. If they fail, the entire camp turns hostile to them.
  • If the party leaves the Shadow-Cursed Lands, this event is not triggered and the game progresses as if the player character chose to spare both Isobel and their romantic interest or the companion with the most approval.


Githyanki attack at Wyrm's Lookout

Type: General  (The EmperorThe Emperor)

Requirements:

  • Leaving Act Two

Result:

  • Automatically starts after moving on to the road to Baldur's Gate and then long resting at Wyrm's Lookout before entering the Outer City. After ending the day, a portal opens and three Gish'ra warriors step through who then attack the party. The party has only three turns to make it to the Astral Portal, transporting them to the Astral Plane.


The Emperor's true nature

  • During Help Your ProtectorHelp Your Protector at the start of Act 3, a conversation is automatically triggered when the player character ventures far enough into the Astral Plane.

  1. Dialogue options depend on if Shadowheart is aware of her wound flare, or if she knows Dark Justiciars have been around this area. She can also do a passive DC 14 Religion Check DC 14 Religion Check to figure out druids and Selûnites use to live in these woods.
