Shadow-Cursed Lands[edit | edit source]
Lock-out warning:
- : Traverse through the Shadow-Cursed Lands to Last Light and Moonrise without using a Moonlantern. Karlach Eldra Sina'zith
- Part 0/2 - Do not use a Moonlantern until reaching both Last Light Inn and Moonrise Towers.
- : Complete the Gauntlet of Shar without going to Last Light or Moonrise. Karlach Eldra Sina'zith
- : Reach the Nightsong without ever being affected by the shadow curse. Karlach Halsin Eldra Sina'zith
- Part 0/1 - The party must never have the Shadow Curse condition. Equip everyone with torches. The easiest way to succeed this is to arrive from the Monastery Trail, but before the scene with Gronag triggers, jump to the bridge instead and keep walking. A scene with Kar'niss triggers without the Harpers. Reveal the party and demand he hand over the Lantern, then release the pixie to get protection.
Protect the Harpers:
- : Keep all Harpers alive during the ambush with the Shadows. Wyll Danton
- Near the Grymforge entrance to the Shadow-Cursed Lands. Make sure no one dies after Yonas is cursed.
Read Dead Druid's Journal:
- : Find and read the dead druid's journal about how the shadow curse came to be. Gale Sir Fuzzalump
- Near the entrance to Grymforge, next to a skeleton.
Deal with Gronag:
- : Demand that the goblin fetch his bone. Dark Urge
- Near the Monastery trail entrance into Shadow-Cursed Lands. Speak with him and demand he fetch the bone he threw, then select the illithid option "Go on. Fetch!"
Follow or ambush Kar'niss:
- : Play the Spider's Lyre to attract the drider. Brinna
- Part 2/2 - Play the
Spider's Lyre to summon Kar'niss.

- Must be done via Deception checks during the convoy ambush, or by disarming him and picking it up mid-combat; not just killing him and looting the lantern.

Play with Oliver:
- : Beat Oliver at hide and seek without alerting the shadow creatures. Karlach Halsin Eldra Sina'zith
- : Play both games of hide and seek with Oliver. Maddala
- Oliver turns invisible, an active party member must pass a Perception check or it does not count as a win. The first time he will be outside near a cart. The second time he will run into the house. Split the party and keep them inside the house crouched to avoid being spotted by the shadows.

One must enter the Moonrise Tower area (seen on map banner in the left) via a side route, without being granted Moonshield. If not triggering, fast travel back to Last Light Inn with an Outlander character.
Trade with Roah Moonglow:

DC 10 Perception check to notice the protruding books. Touch the 'Musty Tomes' shelf, an altar will appear. Insert a Heart found in the same room into it.

- Reach into the Cracked Wall, then select "Do nothing."

- If using Cracked Wall select "Submit. Become.". Alternatively in the prison the party can also jump down the pit, climb down the cliffside or jump down the hole in Cell Three.
Assault

- Unavoidable, just do not forget to enter the prison during the assault.
Moonrise Docks[edit | edit source]
Talk to Marls:
- : Force the Zhent smuggler to jump off the docks. Dark Urge
- Have the the player character tell him they want to see the shipment without using illithid powers. When they learn what it is, remove his mental defenses with illithid powers and tell him to wash off the tadpoles. Will break some Oaths.
Moonrise Prison[edit | edit source]
Break or break out Minthara:
- : Recruit Minthara. Kerz
- : Rescue Minthara from her captors. Maddala
- Trick or kill the interrogators, then break her out of Moonrise. The party will be stopped by patrols, as well the entrance guard. Succeed any checks or sneak out another way.
- : Torture Minthara, reducing her to a husk of her former self. Dark Urge
- Take over the interrogation and erase Minthara's mind.
- Mutually exclusive.
Bribe the Warden:
- : Bribe Moonrise's warden. Minthara Kerz
- Try to bribe her, but pay the lowest amount because she will just take the player character's money.
Talk to the Prisoners:
- : Evade repercussions when speaking to the Moonrise prisoners. Astarion Kree
- Can be achieved by persuading the guards to let you talk to the prisoners, by talking to the prisoners unobserved, or by killing all the guards and then talking to a prisoner.
- : Give Wulbren his tools so the gnomes can escape. Ver'yll
- : Return Wulbren's tools to him. Jacelyn
- This doesn't need to be his hammer which was confiscated; any bludgeoning weapon, including the club that Wulbren can pick up on the docks, awards these Inspirations.
- : Help the Moonrise prisoners escape. Ver'yll
- : Help Wulbren escape Moonrise. Maddala
- : Break out and save all of the Moonrise prisoners. Wyll Danton
- Simplest method is to block the cell gates with prisoners with crates or barrels, place some explosives barrels near and put a lit torch close by. Then reach the area behind the cells, have two strong characters with hammers break the walls. The prisoners will escape, but if done correctly, the guards will not be able to enter the cells and the party will escape without combat.
Atop Moonrise Towers[edit | edit source]
Confront Ketheric:
- : Meet Ketheric at the top of Moonrise. Minthara Kerz
- : Recount Ketheric Thorm's past to him, shaking his resolve. Brinna
- If the player character learned his past from exploring his family's rooms, succeed a check to to make him surrender.
Reithwin Mausoleum[edit | edit source]
- : Open the way into the Gauntlet of Shar. Gale Sir Fuzzalump
Gauntlet of Shar[edit | edit source]
Pass the Trials:
- : Solve each of Shar's trials in the Gauntlet of Shar. Shadowheart Zenith
- : Pass all of Shar's trials. Minthara Kerz
- : Fill all sockets with Sharran gems in the Gauntlet of Shar. Jacelyn
- There are 3 trials. Soft-Step, Self-Same, Faith-Step. A fourth gem is in the orthon's lair.
Pass the Self-Same Trial:
- : Kill the player character's mirror-self in Shar's trial. Dark Urge
- : Defeat the player character's copy in the Gauntlet of Shar's mirror trial. Lae'zel Jaheira Varanna
- Before touching the altar, remove the player character's equipment to make the clones trivial to beat. The respective characters must perform the killing blow directly, some DOT effect do not count.
Breach the Silent Library:
- : Unlock and take the Spear of Rampant Night. Jacelyn
- The relevant weapon is actually called the Spear of Night. Located inside the Silent Library, behind a gate, behind a tapestry of Shar.
Deal with Balthazar:
- : Obtain Balthazar's bell and summon his flesh golem. Minthara Kerz
- : Kill all of Balthazar's undead. Shadowheart Zenith
- : Kill the necromancer. Dark Urge
- To obtain the bell the player character must succeed a check to request more resources.
Deal with Yurgir:
- : Hear the orthon's contract. Brinna
- : Expose a half-truth in the orthon's contract with Raphael. Astarion Kree
- Must hear the song contract, then succeed an Insight check.
- : Take Shar's gem without aiding or killing the orthon. Ver'yll
- Use Greater Invisibility or similar to sneak in and pick up the Gem.
- : Convince the orthon to spare the party, for now... Maddala
- Succeed a check to avoid fighting during the player character's first encounter.
- : Kill the orthon, returning him to Raphael. Lae'zel Varanna
- : Trick the orthon with a false loophole. Dark Urge
- Three difficult checks, first make him kill his followers, then Nessa, then himself.
