Spellplague

Spellplague is a hostile Countermeasure Aberration in Baldur's Gate 3.

Involvement

The Spellplague may appear during the fight Atop the Netherbrain if the player sides with the Emperor. It will appear if a Wizard is present in the party.

Gobble up a foe's intellect, lowering their Intelligence by 1 per turn and healing your wounds for 5 turns.

 Range: 9 m (30 ft)

 Counterspell ( + )

Try to stop a spell being cast.

If it is higher level than the spell slot you used to Counterspell, you must make a check using your spellcasting ability^{[See Notes]} to prevent it. The check's difficulty is equal to 10 plus the level of the spell you are trying to counter.

This spell can be cast while you are  Silenced.

 Disintegrate ( + )

Damage: 50~100

10d6 + 40⁠Force

If the target fails a Dexterity Saving throw, and the spell reduces it to 0 hit points, it disintegrates into a crumbly ash.

 Ice Storm ( + )

Damage: 6~40

2d8⁠Bludgeoning

+ 4d6⁠Cold

Impel a storm of hail and ice to crash from the sky, covering the ground and striking all objects and creatures within range, dealing ⁠Bludgeoning and ⁠Cold damage. It also creates an  Ice surface that lasts 2 turns.

Create three darts of magical force, each dealing ⁠1d4 + 1 Force damage to its target.

The darts always hit their target, and can each be targeted individually.

1d4 + 5⁠Piercing

Make a melee attack with your equipped weapon.

 Melee: 1.5 m (5 ft)

 Polymorph ( + )

Transform a creature into a harmless sheep.

If the sheep's Hit Points drop to 0, the target reverts to its original form with its original Hit Points.
