Bedi is a half-orc barbarian and a new recruit of the Cult of the Absolute that can be encountered in Act Two. He is initially found in the outskirts of the Ruined Battlefield, on a mission to escort a True Soul to Moonrise Towers.

Involvement[edit | edit source]

Follow the Convoy[edit | edit source]

Main article: Follow the Convoy

If the party reached the Shadow-Cursed Lands through the Mountain Pass, Bedi can be found a short jog away from the entry point, on the edge of the Shadow Curse and on the lookout for potential threats. His small group of Absolutists is led by fellow half-orc Kansif, and he is joined by the goblins Brawler Vez, Warrior Gronag, and Sharp-Eye Lora.

Speaking with Kansif will give the party the opportunity to initiate Follow the Convoy by playing the Spider's Lyre, which will summon Kar'niss. The party can then attack Bedi and the cultists, or follow the convoy to Moonrise Towers.

Ambush[edit | edit source]

Following the cultists will take them and the party through the Ruined Battlefield, where a nearby group of Harpers lay in wait to ambush the convoy in an attempt to acquire Kar'niss' Moonlantern. The Harpers will immediately attack the convoy on sight, but will momentarily give the party a chance to change sides and attack Kansif and the other cultists. Siding with the Absolutists will allow the party to Infiltrate Moonrise Towers, while siding with the Harpers will lead to Bedi's death and have Branthos refer the party to Last Light Inn.

Alternatively, if the party reached the Shadow-Cursed Lands through Grymforge instead, they can encounter Bedi and the convoy for the first time mid-transit, with or without a Harper escort. The party can subsequently either ambush the convoy and seize the Moonlantern for themselves, let them pass, or convince Kar'niss to give them the Moonlantern. If the party waits a little longer before attacking, Kar'niss will slay Lora for venturing towards where the party and Harpers are hiding.

Convincing the cultists to part with the Moonlantern will have them walk into the Shadow Curse, only to be found later in the center of Reithwin as enemy Shadow-Cursed Undead Shadow-Cursed Undead. They are automatically hostile to the party in this form and cannot be interacted with other than by attacking.

Arriving at Moonrise Towers[edit | edit source]

If sided with and alive, Bedi will be led alongside the party to Moonrise Towers, where Kar'niss will depart. Bedi will remain in the towers' quarters, alongside Kansif and the goblins. Talking with Bedi has him disdainfully ridicule the state of Moonrise Towers, unimpressed and seeing it unfit for the Absolute.[1] Although, he will show rabid eagerness in invading Baldur's Gate in Her name.[2]

Bedi has the tendency to voice his thoughts out loud, making disrespectful remarks towards General Thorm, to which Kansif will berate him for and tell him to guard his tongue.[3]

Notes[edit | edit source]

  • Grants 75 experience when killed.
  • Devnotes denote Bedi to be a relatively new recruit that doesn't guard his tongue well. This is in contrast to Kansif, which is said to be a solemn leader, and a stoic, honourable half-orc.[4][5]
