For the Warlock subclass, see The Fiend.

Fiends are a type of creature that are from the Lower Planes. They are creatures born of pure evil.

Characteristics[edit | edit source]

Fiends come in a variety of forms and sizes. Some are intelligent, while others are not. They are so long-lived that they have an unknown lifespan; as such they do not grow old. With the possible exceptions of ShovelShovel and HaarlepHaarlep, most fiends in the game are from the (nine) Hells, rather than the Abyss.[1]

Most fiend creatures are resistant or immune to FireFire damage, due to coming from the Lower Planes.

Notes and references[edit | edit source]

  1. In traditional D&D lore, Quasits, Succubus and Succubi are demons, which always hail from the Abyss, but in the game, Shovel is simply referred to as a Fiend. Additionally, in the 5e ruleset, Succubus and Succubi are simply fiends, being neither demon nor devil. There is an entry for demons as a race in game data, but it is not used for any creature that exists in the game.
