Access

The Inner Sanctum is accessed through the stone door in the Sacred Pool. Four frescos line the Inner Sanctum, depicting the history of the Emerald Grove.

Overview

Kagha Kagha, the acting leader of the druids, can be found in the Inner Sanctum. The Servants' Quarters are to the north-east and the Druids' Chambers are to the north. The healer Nettie Nettie can be found in the Druids' Chamber, and can unlock the entrance to the Enclave Library.

When the party first enter, Kagha is deciding the fate of Arabella Arabella. The party may intervene to Save Arabella Save Arabella. If the party do not intervene, Arabella tries to escape. Kagha's snake Teela Teela pursues and kills her.

Talking to Rath Rath or Kagha can initiate Investigate Kagha Investigate Kagha, as will reading The Rite of Thorns in the Servants' Quarters, or finding Kagha's chest.

If Kagha is exposed, the rats Olodan Olodan, Wren Wren and Pinta Pinta reveal themselves as wildshaped Shadow Druids. Kagha made a deal with Olodan to enact the Rite of Thorns to deliver the Grove to the Shadow Druids. In return, Kagha becomes First Druid.

If convincing Kagha to reconsider, she joins the party and other druids to fight the Shadow Druids.

Sub-Locations

Servants' Quarters

For more information see: Servants' Quarters

The Servants' Quarters are to the north-west of the Inner Sanctum. A stone desk stands in the centre, which contains The Rite of Thorns and The Emerald Enclave: Tenets. A stone bookshelf is behind the desk, flanked by two glowing bear statues.

Druids' Chambers

For more information see: Druids' Chambers

The Druids' Chambers are north of the Inner Sanctum. A tall elk statue sits in the centre of the room. There are several stone beds and a preparation area for potions. A cauldron of theriac boils between alembics and destillers. The healer Nettie Nettie, who is part of Get Help from Healer Nettie Get Help from Healer Nettie, can be found here. She can unlock the hidden entrance to the Enclave Library.

Enclave Library

For more information see: Enclave Library

The Enclave Library is hidden behind a false wall in the Druids' Chambers. A large wolf statue stands in the middle, with a plinth containing a rune in each cardinal direction. One of the runes is missing. Small alcoves to the north, west, and east contain more bookshelves.

The Enclave Library includes a makeshift autopsy table that contains a Ned'Cirannis Dissected Drow. Halsin Halsin's notes can be found nearby. A hidden entrance to the Hidden Vault can be accessed with the Rune of the Wolf.

Frescos

By claw and tooth, from root to thorn,
The Old Oak's grove, to wildlings sworn.

The forest rose with claw and tooth,
To tear the darkness from its roots.

In darkest hour, a concord made,
Twixt harp and wild against the shade.

The towers seized, the battle done,
The moonrise broke the Darkest One.

Inner Sanctum Plaques

At the entrance of the Sanctum starting from the west side of the room and continuing along the eastern wall are frescoes depicting the legacy of the Emerald Grove. A variety of Skill Checks can be done to decipher the story from the frescoes.

The first fresco requires DC 10 Religion check and shows druids and Sylvanus, the Old Oak. The plaque explains that the Grove was under threat.

The second fresco requires DC 10 Investigation check and shows how the druids and forest rose against the threat, though other threats have emerged in recent times.

The third fresco in the eastern corner of the room requires DC 10 Religion check and reveals that during their 'Darkest Hour', the druids entered a concord with the Harpers to fight 'the shade'. This refers to the rise of Ketheric Thorm Ketheric Thorm as a servant of Shar Shar, taking over the region around Moonrise Towers and threatening the surroundings lands.

The last fresco needs DC 5 History check to fully decipher, though Shadowheart Shadowheart can interpret the fresco without a check. While their opponents are ambiguous, the final victory fresco shows a Sharran helmet broken at their feet. This suggests that Shar, or her followers, was involved. The mention of Moonrise might suggest that Selûne Selûne intervened as well. If Shadowheart is in the party, she somewhat confirms this.

Succeeding all checks earns the Inspiration Icon.pngRoots of the Grove for sages.

Druid characters have unique narration dialogue for the first two murals and do not require skill checks to identify these events. Likewise, clerics and Shadowheart have unique narration for the last mural.
