Miscellaneous are various Items you can collect during your journey. They may be Valuables worth looting for sale to traders, or important items that may move the story forward, or have other uses.*
* There are thousands of distinct items in the game which can be picked up. Many of these are of little value, and have no practical use.
Valuables
Valuables are Miscellaneous Items, with a Weight to Gold ratio that makes them particularly appealing for looting. They can be used for bartering, or selling to Traders that can be found in various Locations throughout the world.
Valuable items generally appear in the form of precious gems, valuable metals, paintings, or high-quality Kitchenware.
Story Items
Story Items are Miscellaneous items which are Quest specific. Normally these items further the plot of the story, allow the player to progress quests, or reveal important new information to the player.
Containers
Containers are Miscellaneous Items that can have other Items removed from, or placed, within them. Containers can serve as sources of loot scattered around the world or be used by the player to help organise their inventory.
Books
Books are Miscellaneous Items that can be read by the player in the form of properly bound books. Sometimes they will contain information that aids in certain quests or helps to progress the story but most commonly they contain stories, lore, or background information for characters and locations.
