Grand Duke Ulder Ravengard is Humanoid NPC, whos story stretches through all three acts in Baldur's Gate 3. Later in the game, he can become a camp follower.
Act One
Act 1 Spoilers! This section reveals details about the story of Baldur's Gate 3.
You first learn about Ulder Ravengard during the quest Rescue the Grand Duke, when the player arrives near Waukeen's Rest. He is suspected to be trapped inside the burning inn, but after rescuing Counsellor Florrick she reveals that the Grand Duke has been kidnapped. The player learns that he was taken to Moonrise Towers by the followers of the Absolute, but when you arrive there, it turns out, that the Grand Duke Ravengard was infected with an illithid tadpole, and taken to Baldur's Gate.
Act Three
Act 3 Spoilers! This section reveals details about the story of Baldur's Gate 3.
When you arrive at Wyrm's Rock Fortress to attend his coronation, Duke Ravengard stands beside him to crown Gortash as the new Archduke. Immediatly after the ceremony, the player can talk to Ravengard about Counsellor Florrick.
If the player prods Ravengard's mind further, they find that deep uncertainty and fear of an illithid invasion is within him, indicating his mind hasn't fully been taken over. Once the coronation is completed and the player leaves the area, Mizora appears to let the party know, that Ravengard is already being moved to dispose of him, but refuses to go into more detail.
After a Long Rest, she appares before Wyll, offering a new contract, revealing the location of Duke Ravengard, if accepted. If the party ignores the coronation and moves into the Lower City, then Duke Ravengard remains in the Audience Hall with Gortash until the ceremony is completed.
Depending on the previous choices, the Duke is found alive - or dead - in the Iron Throne.
