Rivington
Abandoned Windmill Gur Camp
Requisitioned Barn
The Gur Camp is a Location within Rivington in Act Three of Baldur's Gate 3.
Welcome, friend. You've joined us as we honour our fallen dead - a sombre time. And you have brought a sombre guest. I did not think you would willingly return, spawn.
Gandrel, hailing the party[1]

Overview edit

The Gur Camp is the temporary home to a group of Gur monster hunters, led by UlmaUlma. It is located on the top of the hill at X: 102 Y: -12, north from the Requisitioned Barn and east of the Abandoned Windmill.

The state of affairs in the Gur Camp depends heavily on the player character's decisions concerning AstarionAstarion and / or GandrelGandrel in Act One.

  • If Astarion was by any means betrayed by the party and turned in, all the Gur are dead, having been slaughtered by the vampire lord Cazador SzarrCazador Szarr when he reclaimed Astarion for his diabolical ritual. Gandrel is the only one alive amidst the destroyed camp and becomes hostile to the party on sight.
  • If the party defended Astarion from the monster hunter or never encountered the latter, they see the Gur performing a commemorizing ritual over a funeral pyre upon approaching. If Gandrel survives Act One, he is also present here. The same scene plays out if the party never recruited Astarion, or disposed of him in any other way before meeting the Gur, or he is not present at the moment.

However, if Ulma is alive, she is always conducting the aforementioned rite upon the party approaching. A passive DC 15 Religion check DC 15 Religion check allows to recognize the meaning of the ceremony.[2] Conversation with her starts automatically.

The layout of the dialogue also depends on whether Astarion is present in the party. Eventually, Ulma tells the story of her tribe and asks to help to Investigate Cazador's PalaceInvestigate Cazador's Palace. If the party refuse, the Gur become hostile.

Regardless of the outcome, the encounter may advance Astarion's personal quests, The Pale ElfThe Pale Elf or Call of the BloodCall of the Blood.

Bearing witness to the funeral ceremony may grant one or both of the following inspirations:

The Gur Camp after Cazador's assault[3]

If defeated, Ulma drops The Undead Bane. If the camp has been massacred, most nomads' corpses can be looted for Uncommon varieties of weapons and armour as well.

The barn in the far end of the camp is off-limits to enter. However, if a party member manages to get inside unnoticed (or if the camp has been massacred), a fair amount of arrows, potions, and Camp Supplies, as well as some alchemical ingredients in a locked chest (requires DC 15 Sleight of Hand check DC 15 Sleight of Hand check or having the Camp Chest Key) can be looted from there.

Outside the camp edit

  • Behind the camp, three halflings - Tina Two-ThumbsTina Two-Thumbs, SlarmySlarmy, and Zeffy SoftbluffZeffy Softbluff are scavenging a broken cart, considering anyone who talks to them as competition for the food scraps in it. A bit farther from a cliff, an almost endless field with dozens of refugees' tents can be seen.
  • Up on a hill to the of the camp, a beautiful vista on the River Chionthar, the Wyrm's Crossing bridge, and the city suburbs beyond the river opens. On a bench, a bottle of wine and abandoned locket can be taken.
