Act One[edit section | visual editor]

Xavier is perched in his nest. If the party approach without Speak with AnimalsSpeak with Animals and are spotted, Xavier and his mother immediately screech and prepare to attack them, unless the talking party member passes an animal handling check:

  • [ANIMAL HANDLING] Turn away from the eagle as you approach, indicating that you are not interested in its nest. (DC 18)

If a party member has Speak with Animals active, the Ancient Giant Eagle calls the party intruders and tells Xavier to get behind her. The talking party member can then attempt to persuade her that they are only interested in the big device behind her:

  • [PERSUASION] I'm just interested in the big device, I promise to not meddle with the nest. (DC 15)

Failing to pass a check results in the eagles attacking the party.
