“LIVE MUSIC at The Singing Lute. They sing for their supper while you eat yours!„
Overview[edit | edit source]
The Singing Lute is a small restaurant in the Steeps district of Baldur's Gate. Unlike bustling and boisterous Blushing Mermaid tavern across the street, it seems to be somewhat of a romantic spot. Despite the modest size of the establishment, its cuisine is considered exquisite by some patrons.[1]
The building has three stories, with several tables placed around, where the patrons can look upon the Grey Harbour and the River Chionthar.
The entrance to the taproom is from the Stormshore street, at X: -133 Y: -137.
Restaurant layout[edit | edit source]
From the entrance, the first floor of the restaurant is available. Inside, the owner Tender Henk can be found. He sells Camp Supplies (only beverages - many sorts of wine, and beer and water as well). If he is killed, Tender Honk takes his place, but he does not act as a trader.
The ground floor with the separate entrance from the harbour side is the restaurant's kitchen, where more Camp Supplies can be looted. The upper floor is Henk's dwelling, or "HENKHOUSE", as the platter at the door says. Books and documents found in there, as well as in the mailbox, point out Henk's creativity and love for music.
Involvement[edit | edit source]
Under the first floor balcony Manip Leythim can be found. He prepares himself to take a beating from some thugs whom the father of his secret fiancee, a daughter to a patriar Hhune family, allegedly has set on his track. Thus, he asks the party to give him a health potion (any grade would do, but Leythim takes the least one possible). Sharing a potion to him can earn a small amount of approval from some companions.[2]
The Singing Lute is also the location where the romantic scene with Karlach available in Act Three takes place, if the player character is in partnership with her. Unlike the second floor terrace where the couple's dinner is served, the room where the cutscene continues cannot be found in regular playthrough.
The location also features several minor NPC vignettes.
- Flo Minsydel is sitting by herself at a table. Upon interacting, she discards the party by mentioning that she is not looking for company.
- Fuschia Vineshoot and Rodondo Logg can be found on the first floor balcony enjoying the view of the docks. If the party interacts with any of them, they asks not to bother them.
