Got grub, potions, a few nice vintages. Best stock up now before someone clears me out to fill their larder.
Oliver Tefoco, welcoming a customer

Overview edit

Beehive General Goods occupies the first floor of the three-storied building in the Steeps district of Baldur's Gate, with the main entrance at X: -76 Y: -112 and a back door at X:  Y: .[verify] The upper stories serve as living space for the owner and merchant Oliver TefocoOliver Tefoco and his family.

The building has a basement as well, accessible via a locked hatch on the first floor. It is also connected to the neighbouring Rainforest's Home, with a small alley between the ground levels leading to the Old Garlow's Place and further to the Counting House entrance.

The upper floors have their own location name "Tefoco's Home" (see below) and are also accessible through the door at X: -72 Y: -106 on a narrow bridge leading to it from Lora's Home and the Crimson Draughts.

Involvement edit

In Beehive General Goods the party can stock up with Camp Supplies, various potions and alchemical ingredients of herbal derivation. On the store counter stands a locked gilded chest (requires DC 15 Sleight of Hand check DC 15 Sleight of Hand check to lockpick), containing gold and several Rare potions. He can also be pickpocketed for all soldable goods, and for the Counting House Safe nº7 Key as well.[1]

Under the stairs which lead to the upper floors is a locked hatch to the basement (requires DC 15 Sleight of Hand check DC 15 Sleight of Hand check to lockpick). Both the gilded chest and the hatch are red-outlined.

Tefoco's Home edit

View of the upper stores of the building

This is the living space of Oliver Tefoco's family. It is connected to the general store via a series of stairs and can also be entered through a small bridge from the opposite side of the street.

According to the numerous books and letters scattered around the house, Tefoco and his spouse Kroyce have nine children and a granddaughter. None of those, though, are present in the city: the elder daughter is married and lives separately, three elder sons joined the Flaming Fist, two more became guards in the trading caravan, and Oliver's wife with the lesser kids fled the city to BeregostBeregost for safety from the Absolutists' threat.

The door to the upper stories is locked and red-outlined. It can be opened with the DC 15 Sleight of Hand check DC 15 Sleight of Hand check or with the key pickpocketed from Oliver Tefoco. Through the door the party get access to the third floor of the building. Inside, a rosewood desk keeps the Tefoco's Hatch Key, and in the bottle rack near the stove is the Tefoco's Basement Chest Key. In a locked wooden chest is some gold, a set of Thieves' Tools and a letter from Oliver's wife.

The second store has nothing of interest except another letter, this time from Oliver's sons who left the city as caravan guards.

Basement edit

The basement of the Beehive General Goods features multiple shelves, containers and burlap sacks with lots of fresh Camp Supplies and alchemical ingredients.[2] The upper shelf at X: -1952 Y: 620 contains random potions as well.

There are several hidden containers here. A safe hidden behind the "Landscape" painting on the wall can be unlocked by using Tefoco's Basement Chest Key. It contains a wedding ring and a scroll of Hold MonsterHold Monster spell. At X: -1957 Y: 620 is a breakable SturdySturdy wall. An unlocked wooden chest is hidden behind, with a Blast Mine in front of it.

Outside the building edit

There are several NPC vignettes placed around Beehive General Goods.

  • At X: -64 Y: -98, under the bridge from Tefoco's Home door to Crimson Draughts two news hawkers, PharnillaPharnilla and DellysDellys, argue about their rights for having a break. They are "having a break" whenever the party approaches them.
  • Behind the store two citizens, Pompton NorvathPompton Norvath and DelyarnaDelyarna, discuss the strange company which occupied "the Albright place" after it was abandoned.
  • Cressida FlintCressida Flint is constantly doing rounds from the Beehive General Goods and as far as Flymm's Cobblers. She praises aloud Enver Gortash and his governing style, but apparently most her opinions come from the Baldur's Mouth Gazette articles.

Footnotes and References edit

  1. Oliver's safe, however, contains rich garments only. Refer to the corresponding section of the "Loot" section on the Counting House page.
  2. One of wicker baskets in the basement contains an unnamed key, which does not fit to any lock around. Also, the iron grate in the lowest corner of the basement was reported to be interactable in earlier versions of the game, presumably providing an additional entrance to the Lower City Sewers. In current game version this has been discarded.
