Overview edit

Nortale's Hostel is a medium-sized building located in the Eastway district of Baldur's Gate, just behind the Basilisk Gate chokepoint, across the Baldur's Mouth printing house. It has two stories and no basement.

There are two entrances, both opening into the ground floor, at X: 90 Y: -68 (front) and X: 88 Y: -56 (back).

Nortale's Hostel is a charity establishment run by Hostel Mother Pammella NortaleHostel Mother Pammella Nortale, which provides communal board and lodging for those in need of both. Also, the owner keeps watch on job opportunities which pop up around the city, and informs her dwellers to let them earn a few coins for the living. Recently, since the influx of refugees to the city tenfolded, the hostel began to run ragged, and the owner is actively searching the way to keep her establishment afloat, including appealing to some prominent patriar families of the city.

Involvement edit

Inside the ground floor the party can find Pammella Nortale instructing two new inhabitants, Dholber GreeneDholber Greene and his son DwindlingDwindling on the rules of the hostel. Speaking with any them does not trigger any important dialogues or quests.

The second floor is the dormitories area, where several rustic chests can be found. All are locked and red-outlined, but some contain useful things. Near the window stands another hostel dweller Goris BallastGoris Ballast, discouraged by the constant city noise. He accosts the party for stealing if they lockpick or loot the chests.

The chest near the upper landing of the stairs contains Goris' belongings, notably two pouches of Terazul and a Soul Coin. The last chest on the western side of the room keeps Dholber Greene's possessions, which include Remedial Potion and Scroll of Goodberry - the only one such item in the playthrough. All chests in the room require DC 10 Sleight of Hand check DC 10 Sleight of Hand check to lockpick, but these two can also be opened with the respective keys pickpocketed from the owners.

Other chests contain several alchemical ingredients, as well as gold and random precious gem.

The back doors lead to the balcony over cliffed shore of the Chionthar. In the far corner of it a passive DC 10 Perception check DC 10 Perception check reveals a pouch with a Note from Skarai and a Gold Necklace. The note, as it goes, is addressed to someone connected to Baldur's Mouth Gazette.
