Overview edit

Armbrust's Home is a small private house squeezed between Elfsong Tavern and Forge of the Nine. It belongs to Tym Armbrust and his family. The house has two stories and no basement.

The ground floor is Tym's workroom and the kitchen, while the second floor is the dormitories and living room.

Involvement edit

Inside the party can find several characters: the owner, Tym ArmbrustTym Armbrust, his spouse TalliTalli and their son AyoAyo. Speaking with them does not trigger any important dialogues or quests.

Journals and documents which the party can find around the ground floor tell that Tym Armbrust is a talented tailor who used to take lots of orders all over the Baldur's Gate, from patriars to dock stevedores. However, the business has recently suffered because many clients received Tym's services in credit and, apparently, never paid their due. Now Tym is quickly sinking into debts and takes it heavily. His son Ayo, if spoken to, asks the party whether they are the tax collectors, because his dad is afraid of these people.

On the first floor, near the window at X: 16 Y: -8, a successful DC 15 Perception check DC 15 Perception check highlights a Loose Plank. Under it lies a note from Nine-Fingers KeeneNine-Fingers Keene, which tells that Tym is in debt to the Guild, too.

The particular state of the house and its inhabitants depends on decisions the party took when exploring Rivington. Specifically, if they spared the Mind FlayerMind Flayer in Abandoned Windmill and also brought him a corpse as part of the quest Feed the Mind FlayerFeed the Mind Flayer, then upon arriving to the Lower City the whole Armbrust family is dead, and the freed Mind Flayer floats around inside.

Near the entrance to Armbrust's Home two citizens, Hilario VarotaHilario Varota and MegthanetMegthanet, are discussing the recent murder of the Duke StelmaneStelmane. Both recite various rumors, greatly exaggerated. Their banter also changes if Lord GortashLord Gortash has been killed.
