Tara is a Tressym, a cat-like Monstrosity, and Gale's fluffy companion and assistant.

Gale conjured Tara when he was ten years old, after his parents refused to give him a kitten. Tara and Gale's mom eventually became friends, with Tara visiting her after Gale left home. Tara affectionately refers to Gale as "the most expensive pet in Waterdeep", and later states that they both belong to each other.

Tara first appears upon the first Long Rest of the game if Gale is chosen as origin. She will note Gale's somewhat ill appearance, and express concern. Tara appears later - regardless of the player character - on the roof of the Open Hand Temple in Rivington. She is involved in the quest Find the Missing Letters, and has unique dialogue when Gale is in the party. You can also get Ring of Blink here, whether you have Gale in your party or not.
