Temporary bonuses

Temporary bonuses are special conditions, character enhancements, or other abilities, which will only last for a limited period of time.

There are many different temporary character enhancements or bonuses that can be obtained throughout Baldur's Gate 3. See below for details on these bonuses and how they can be obtained.

Act One[edit | edit source]

The following temporary character bonuses can be obtained in Act One of the game.

Bliss Spores[edit | edit source]

Bliss Spores Bliss Spores - gain a +1d6 bonus to Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, and Saving throws Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Complete Defeat the Duergar Intruders and return to Spaw for this reward. This bonus is applied to all current party members.

Happy[edit | edit source]

Happy Happy - Astarion's vampiric hunger has been temporarily sated. He gains +1 to all Attack Rolls, Saving throws, and most Ability Checks Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Trigger either the long rest cutscene in which Astarion attempts to drink the player character's blood or the moment in camp when he reveals that he is a vampire spawn. This unlocks Vampire Bite Vampire Bite which gives him this condition after being used on a Humanoid.

Infernal Fury[edit | edit source]

Infernal Fury Infernal Fury - the hatred and pain of a captured soul fuels Karlach's infernal machine. Her weapon and unarmed attacks deal an additional 1d4Damage TypesFire damage when she is Raging Raging or when her Hit Points drop below 25% Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Consume a Soul Coin as Karlach.

Morninglord's Radiance[edit | edit source]

Morninglord's Radiance Morninglord's Radiance - weapon attacks deal an additional 1d4Damage TypesRadiant damage Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Place all four of the Ceremonial weapons onto the correct altars in the four weapons puzzle within Rosymorn Monastery to unlock the hidden compartment containing Dawnmaster's Crest. This bonus is applied to all current party members.

Act Two[edit | edit source]

The following temporary character bonuses can be obtained in Act Two of the game.

Dark Lady's Awareness[edit | edit source]

Dark Lady's Awareness Dark Lady's Awareness - gain +5 bonus to Wisdom Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Pass a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw in the Sharran Sanctuary while interacting with the south-eastern statue. This bonus is only applied to the character who interacts with the statue. Shadowheart can skip this saving throw with a unique dialogue option unless the party has freed the Nightsong, in which case she instead rolls with Disadvantage Icon.png Disadvantage.

Dark Lady's Erudition[edit | edit source]

Dark Lady's Erudition Dark Lady's Erudition - gain a +5 bonus to Intelligence Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Pass a DC 14 Intelligence saving throw in the Sharran Sanctuary while interacting with the north-eastern statue. This bonus is only applied to the character who interacts with the statue. Shadowheart can skip this saving throw with a unique dialogue option unless the party has freed the Nightsong, in which case she instead rolls with Disadvantage Icon.png Disadvantage.

Dark Lady's Grace Dark Lady's Grace - gain +5 bonus to Charisma Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Pass a DC 14 Charisma saving throw in the Sharran Sanctuary while interacting with the center statue. This bonus is only applied to the character who interacts with the statue. Shadowheart can skip this saving throw with a unique dialogue option unless the party has freed the Nightsong, in which case she instead rolls with Disadvantage Icon.png Disadvantage.

Mystra's Benevolence[edit | edit source]

Mystra's Benevolence Mystra's Benevolence - Gale gains Advantage Icon.png Advantage on Concentration saving throws Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

As Gale, destroy the ritual circle in Balthazar's laboratory in Moonrise Towers. Completing the ritual instead will grant the Shadow Lantern. This bonus can be acquired with Gale as an origin or companion.

Mystra's Blessing[edit | edit source]

Mystra's Blessing Mystra's Blessing - Gale gains Immunity to Damage TypesFire, Damage TypesCold, Damage TypesForce, and Damage TypesThunder damage unless the damage dealt exceeds 10 points Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

This bonus is only available while playing as origin Gale, not with Gale as a companion. As Gale, choose to cleanse the Shadow Weave after defeating Malus Thorm, Gerringothe Thorm or Thisobald Thorm. You can only do so once and you will give up the permanent bonus Consumed Shadow Weave.

Nightsinger's Favour[edit | edit source]

Nightsinger's Favour Nightsinger's Favour - gain Resistance to Damage TypesNecrotic damage Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Succeed a DC 14 Religion check at the Altar to Shar in the Gauntlet of Shar. Failing the check will instead curse the character with Shar-Stricken Shar-Stricken. Clerics of an evil Deity can get this bonus without passing the skill check.

Pixie Blessing[edit | edit source]

Pixie Blessing Pixie Blessing - the Shadow Curse Shadow Curse cannot affect this creature thanks to a pixie's protective magic Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Free Dolly Dolly Dolly from the Moonlantern to obtain Filigreed Feywild Bell. Using the bell grants this condition to all allies and allied summons.

Selûne's Blessing[edit | edit source]

Selûne's Blessing Selûne's Blessing - Selûne's radiance protects allies against the lesser effects of the Shadow Curse Shadow Curse and grants them Necrotic Resistance M.png. But beware - even Her light cannot guard against the darkest shadows.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Speak to Isobel in the Last Light Inn. This bonus applies to all current party members and lasts until the end of Act Two.

Act Three[edit | edit source]

The following temporary character bonuses can be obtained in Act Three of the game.

Bless[edit | edit source]

Bless Bless - gain a +1d4 bonus to Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, and Saving throws Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Place any item into the Offering Chest near the fountain in the Water Queen's House within the Lower City. This bonus is applied to the character who places the item in the chest.

Gather Your Allies[edit | edit source]

Gather Your Allies Quest - Various temporary summons and passive bonuses usable for the duration of the Confront the Elder Brain quest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Ally the party with various characters during the Gather Your Allies quest.

Power Word Kill[edit | edit source]

Power Word Kill Power Word Kill - force an enemy with 100 Hit Points or fewer to die instantly. Limited to one use only.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

This spell can only be learned as the Dark Urge after slaying Orin if they choose to accept Bhaal's gift.

Rapture[edit | edit source]

Rapture Rapture - gain +1d6 bonus to Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, and Saving throws Duration: Until Long rest.

How to unlock[edit | edit source]

Can be obtained through a dialogue option with Naoise Nallinto in the Nymph's Grotto, her room at Sharess' Caress, after killing the transformed Fist Jara and commenting on her arousal towards the mind flayer. This bonus is only applied to the character who spoke with Naoise.
