Walkthrough[edit | edit source]
Meeting Arabella[edit | edit source]
If the party saved Arabella during Save Arabella and protected the Druid Grove as part of Save the Refugees, Arabella will travel to the Shadow-Cursed Lands along with the other tiefling refugees. Arabella can be found at the gates of the Reithwin Town Graveyard at X: -153 Y: 15, north of the Sharran monument and west of the Mason's Guild. When the party approaches, she calls out to them. A pair of Shadows attack, and Arabella restrains them with magical vines. If asked how she got these powers, she explains she was changed after touching the Idol of Silvanus and now has strange magical abilities. Bards, Druids, and Wizards have some unique conversation options about her new powers.
The party can ask Arabella if she can teach them how to use her magic, or simply worry about her well-being. She says she was separated from her parents after the refugees were ambushed by Absolute cultists, and Zevlor failed to protect them. She managed to run away but lost sight of her parents, and is now looking for them. Arabella asks if the party would be willing to find them, to which they can either agree or say they will do it if she teaches them her nature magic. Arabella then asks if she can stay at their camp until her parents are found, as the vines will not hold the Shadows forever. If the party agrees, she stays in camp next to Withers. If the party refuse either to find her parents or to let her stay at camp, she runs off into the shadow curse. After a long rest, her corpse can be found and spoken to next to an entangled shadow at X: -176 Y: -67.
Finding Arabella's parents[edit | edit source]
Arabella's parents, Locke and Komira, can be found in the children's ward of the House of Healing X: -185 Y: 12, in the eastern wing. There, their bodies are tended to by Anna Lidwin. If the party talks to Sister Lidwin, she does not understand they are dead. She thinks she can still save them and "attends" to Locke's body. With a Deception or Sleight of Hand check, she can be convinced that her "patients" are cured.
Locke's corpse can be spoken to with Speak with Dead. He confirms Komira is his wife and Arabella is his daughter. If asked how he died, he explains that he and his wife ran to the House of Healing after the ambush on the refugees, believing it to be abandoned. They were attacked by the surgeon sisters. He does not know where Zevlor is. Komira's corpse refuses to speak.
Breaking the news[edit | edit source]
How Arabella takes the news depends on when she is told. If the party find her parents' corpses before finding Arabella, there is an option to tell her immediately. Doing so prompts either a DC 14 Persuasion or Intimidation check or the use of Detect Thoughts with a DC 10. Upon success, Arabella goes to camp and acts the same as if she was told of the news there. However, if the check is failed, Arabella becomes shocked and upset and runs off into the shadows, just as if the player character had refused to help her initially.
If Arabella goes to camp, she grows a bond with Withers, and is able to take the news much better. Unique dialogue options are available here for Bards, Clerics, or Monks. If the player character is an Oath of Devotion Paladin and has already found Arabella's parents, then their oath breaks upon telling her, "I haven't found your parents just yet." In the end, Withers encourages her to go her own way and follow the Weave, stating that she has her own destiny to follow. Arabella remains in camp until the end of Act Two, at which point she ventures off alone.
As long as the news of her parents' deaths is broken to her and she survives, she can be found in Act Three. If she is never told what happened to her parents, she will instead leave a note and depart the game for good.
Quest rewards[edit | edit source]
Consequences[edit | edit source]
If Arabella is sent to camp and eventually told of her parents' deaths, she will return in Act Three. She can be found in the Lower City Sewers, west of the City Sewers Waypoint. If spoken to, she says she will help the party with the final battle, becoming an ally for the quest Gather Your Allies. If she is never told of her parents' deaths, she instead departs the game.
