Morann is a follower of Shar who guards the door to the Mapping Room in the House of Grief in Baldur's Gate. He does not allow the party to open the door without permission.

“You're eager - good. But there is a right order to things - before you can enter, you must agree to the House of Grief's terms - and price.„

Main article: Investigate the House of Grief
After talking to him, the party can learn the Mapping Room is just beyond the doors behind him. He does not let the party pass unless they receive permission from Mirie at the front desk. The party can inquire what is further ahead.

- What's even through there?
- You seem to recall my face. Likely you'll know I'm expected.
The party can also try several options to get past him.
[2]
- I've already gotten permission - go speak to the attendant if you don't believe me. (DC 25)
- You can drop the act, brother. We both know what this place truly is. Let me pass. (DC 20 )
- Enough. We both know what this place truly is, and who is worshipped here. Let me pass. (DC 20) (If not worshipping Shar)
- Let's not get tangled up in bureaucracy, shall we? Easier to just let me pass. (DC 20 )
- We both know who is truly worshipped here. I am her chosen warrior. Stand aside, or feel her wrath. (DC 20 )
- I know what this place is. Stand aside, or you soon won't be standing at all. (DC 20) (If not a Dark Justiciar)
- If you insist on standing on ceremony, soon you won't be standing at all. Got it? (DC 20 )
If successful, the party can try and open the locked door, either with the Grief Key or by picking the lock ( DC 15 Sleight of Hand Check) without it being considered trespassing.
