Involvement

Ico knownSpells lvl 03.png Act 3 Spoilers! This section reveals details about the story of Baldur's Gate 3.

Avery Sonshal is in charge of Felogyr's Fireworks, a workshop that sells various crackers and pyrotechnics to Baldurian citizens, including children. When the party approaches him, they will see a cutscene where it just so happens that he checks one of his underage clients', Willow, knowledge of the rules concerning safe usage of such things.

As the cutscene continues, Avery will address next question to the player. He is tadpoled and aware of the cult, so will immediately recognize fellow True Souls, calling them telepathically friends of Enver Gortash. Half of the conversation henceforth will be kept up in the same manner. The player may ask Avery to give them a free sample of the workshop's production. He will present them with 3 Smokepowder Arrows.

After that, the player will have several options within dialogue. They may choose the line

  • What else do you do for Gortash? (asked aloud).

Sonshal shall speak aloud some gibberish, while again giving the real answer telepathically - he clearly doesn't want his dealings with Gortash to be exposed. This line will allow to perform DC 15 Intimidation check or DC 15 Deception check, both concerning some 'last order from Gortash'. Avery will try to offer excuses, saying that his establihment keeps the schedule, and leaking a word by the way that Gortash is somehow connected with the Gondians.

The party has also an option to tell Avery the password wrested from Arfur Gregorio in Wyrm's Crossing. Hearing the password, Avery will let the party proceed to the second floor of the workshop, but forewarn them not to wander further upstairs. Saying this, he acts in an overly theatrical way, which allows to suspect that 'Uncle Felogyr' is a totally imaginary person.

The player can also simply ask Avery to trade. However, speaking with him again after trading will have the 'password' dialogue line still available.

Avery Sonshal can be pickpocketed. Apart from trading goods, the party may also loot from him Felogyr's Fireworks Cellar Key, Fireworks Workshop Key, Counting House Vault n°5 Key, and a Soot-Stained Letter.

As the quest cannot be ultimately resolved in a peaceful way, Avery Sonshal will join the fight as soon as he notices any ill commotion, siding with the followers of Bane (who reside on the third floor of the building). He will run upstairs and attack the party along with other Felogyr's employees.
