Mum used to say there was no such thing as death. That there was only change.

Dad thought that was a load of woo. That gone meant gone, unless you'd made a deal with one of the gods. Said he had better things to do in life than beg favors off immortals.

Overview[edit | edit source]

Mortuary[edit | edit source]

The Mortuary is located on the east end of the graveyard. A locked hatch beside the porch stairs leads to the Mortuary's Cellar.

Inside the building, Valmorba Valmorba prepares bodies for burial.

On the porch, Anita Fischer Anita and Elias Fischer Elias Fischer are distraught that they cannot get a coffin made for their recently deceased child. The party may convince the coffin maker Ulkov Sully behind the morgue to make a coffin for the child.

Mortarch Gracie Scyre Gracie Scyre alternates between speaking to the unfortunate couple and patrolling the graveyard to prevent anyone from digging up the graves. She joins the party in combat if they instigate a fight with either the undead or kobolds mentioned below.

Mausoleums[edit | edit source]

Four locked ( DC 10 Sleight of Hand check) mausoleums lead to new areas: the Grand Mausoleum, Durinbold Mausoleum, Gorion Mausoluem and Hhune Mausoleum. Most of these mausoleums have traps or undead enemies in them.

Graveyard[edit | edit source]

Nina Dortmell Nina Dortmell is trying to resurrect her recently deceased brother. The party may either help her or convince her to leave him be. Helping her spawns 3 Zombies, 2 Greater Zombies, 2 Skeletons, and Garret Dortmell Garret Dortmell, a Death Shepherd who buffs the other summoned undead with significant additional durability. If spoken to after helping Nina, Mortarch Gracie Scyre chastises the party for teaching the little girl necromancy, comparing it to leaving a poisoned cake out in a park where a child can eat it.

Maude Maude can be found selling flowers on the west side of the graveyard.

If Karlach Karlach is in the party, she points out her parents’ graves to the party. They are in the middle aisle of the Graveyard at X: 5 Y: 31. If interacted with, Karlach speaks to her parents' graves, telling them of what she has been up to. The player character can then ask to find out how Karlach's parents died and events which transpired afterwards.

If Shadowheart Shadowheart is in the party, she comments on the grave of Allister Marnley, located at X: 25 Y: 15 next to the south entrance of the Graveyard with a 'Happy Birthday' note. After this, she can be spoken with again and muses further on newly rediscovered bits of memories from her past in Baldur's gate, which relates to her Daughter of Darkness Daughter of Darkness quest. It is also possible to place a Night Orchid directly in front of the grave for her to comment, "My favorite. A kind touch, thank you."

Down the steps from the Mortuary is a grave with dirt pile that has a pipe sticking out of it; a Perception check highlights it. If clicked on, a voice can be heard from the pipe. Digging up the grave exposes a coffin, and opening it releases Gothric Rillyn Gothric Rillyn, who was apparently buried alive by Minsc The Stone Lord as punishment for theft.

The grave marked "M. Kurwin" has a dirt pile in front of it that can be dug up to reveal a Kobold named Bugthimble Bugthimble who aggressively claims the treasures hidden in the grave. The party can then either intimidate or fight Bugthimble and their kobold allies to take the treasure and Kurwin's Cauteriser for themselves. However passing a Deception check will instead result in Bugthimble fleeing with Kurwin's Cauteriser in hand. If reading the Tough Letter in Act One, the party can ask Valmorba where they can find M. Kurwin's grave, and remark that the name sounds familiar to them when talking to Bugthimble.
